Soft snoring filled the room and Tania giggled.“I can’t believe he’s still asleep.I know I wasn’t quiet.”
“Me either.”I sighed and closed my eyes, finally feeling like I could sleep and wouldn’t lose my mate in the night.“I think he may have moved at one point, but…” I sort of shrugged, an amazingly sweet bliss moving over me.“Sorry… I didn’t sleep a lot and I feel amazing now…”
“Sleep, my beautiful wolf,” Tania whispered, her fingertips trailing over my face slowly… softly… “Sleep.”
* * *
When I woke up again,Tania was gone from the bed, but her voice filled the air.I rolled over and stretched out my back, Leo’s laughter ringing loudly.
I sat up and looked around. They sounded like they were in the kitchen. How late was it?How long had I slept?
God, I feel better though.
Lighter.Happier.
I slipped out of bed, walked to the bathroom and quickly jumped in the shower.I stunk of stress, sweat and sex.
I scrubbed hard, and quickly, my body feeling different this morning. Was it making love to my mate, or was there something else going on?I’d have to ask Tania when I could put the strangeness into words.
Tania wandered into the bathroom just as I was getting out of the shower and reaching for a towel.
“Good morning.”She grinned at me.“Again.”
“Hope you don’t mind,” I said, gesturing at the shower.“I just felt like I needed something… something…”
My head was filling with the strangest sensation.I couldn’t think, and there was no pain, but it was like I was falling down.
“I…”
“Mason, what’s wrong?”Tania asked with an urgent tone, grabbing my arm.
“I…” I couldn’t speak. My tongue felt tied, my throat closing up.
“Leo!”Tania called out, but my brother didn’t come.Instead I heard a distant groan.
I fell toward the floor but Tania threw out her magic, stopping me from smashing my face on the tiles.
There was a loud thump and part of me knew that my brother had fallen, too, having no-one there to catch him.
“Mason! No, no, no, no, no.Leo!No!Oh my God!”
I tried to lift my head but my eyesight was giving out and Tania was fading before my eyes.
Panic hit just as she disappeared completely and I was suddenly lying on a cold, hard floor. But it wasn’t white tiles beneath my naked body.Instead, dirty floorboards pressed into my knees as I staggered up to my feet.
Where the hell was I?
ChapterTwenty-Seven
LEO
Irolled onto my back and sat up, grabbing my nose which I was sure was broken.“Fuck.”Damn, that hurt.
I straightened my nose with a loud crack echoing in my ears and wiped at the blood gushing over my lips.
My wolf shifter genes would heal my nose in a few minutes, but meanwhile I just had to wait for the bleeding to stop.
“Leo?”Mason called out.
