I jumped up and stared at my brother who was still naked and staggering to his feet.“Oh my God, what the hell happened?”I demanded, looking around.

“And where the fuck are we, is more the question,” Mase said, staring around with a hard frown.

I pushed up on the wooden floor and shrugged out of my sweater.“Here.”

Mason caught the sweater and pulled it over his head, then stared down at my jeans.“You still go commando?”

I shrugged.“Yeah.Sorry.”

The sweater didn’t cover Mason properly, but he wouldn’t be worried.Wolf shifters rarely considered nudity anything other than a natural state of being.

Tap, click.Tap, click.

The strangest sound hit my ears and I twisted around to stare at the door to the small, dirty room we were standing in.

The door opened and a little light shone in, illuminating the dust and dinge of the room.

“Who are you?”I demanded of the woman who stood in the doorway.

“And what are we doing here?”Mason said, stepping up beside me, shoulder to shoulder.

“Cover yourselves,” the woman croaked at us, stepping forward so we could see her better.

She was ancient, with long white hair and gnarled features.

She gripped a walking stick, which accounted for the tapping sound I’d heard.

Tap, click, sounded in the room as she moved one step closer, and with a flick of her wrist, we were clothed, obviously to her satisfaction.

A tight black woolen sweater weighed me down, while Mason now wore a pair of slacks and shiny leather shoes.

Despite the strange, and probably dire situation, I couldn’t help but smirk at him.

They were the last clothes in the world that my brother would have chosen to wear.

I tugged at my thick black sweater and cleared my throat with a cough.“Okay, so we’re covered up now. What are we doing here?”

“And who the hell are you?”Mase growled.

The woman rolled her eyes and flicked her hand again.

This time we were slammed into wooden chairs that appeared at our backs, our wrists tied down with thick leather straps to the arm rests.

Mason yanked at his bonds and the old woman lifted her stick and pointed it at his chest.

“If you try to break free, I’ll chain you to the walls, wolf.”

Mase stopped struggling but he was breathing hard and fast, like he was about to shift, but couldn’t.

I frowned and looked inside myself for my wolf.He was there, but he was asleep and unmoving.Fear rippled through me.It was obvious this woman was a witch, and she meant us harm. But what had she done to our shifters?

As though hearing my internal thoughts, she said, “You won’t be able to turn into those creatures here.I have wards on my home to stop you lot from becoming the beasts that you are.”

I stared at her, something strange and almost… familiar coming to mind.

“Do we know you?”I asked, knowing the question sound ridiculous, even to my own ears.

The woman all but glared at me.“I haven’t left my home in a century. Why would you know me?”
