He groaned, his eyes closing.“You know I only ever wanted one thing.”

“For your parents to accept you for who you really are,” I whispered, hoisting him higher in my arms.

I shook him a little, “Harry, I would have helped you if I’d known you were struggling this much. You could have lived here with me.We could have been the odd couple all over again.”

He sighed.“I should have come here earlier, Tan.But I should have done a lot of things. Now stop and listen to me.What is your greatest wish?”

“For you to live!”I cried.

“No,” he whispered.“You always said that you wished your magic matched your physical strength.Do you still wish that?”

“You remember that?”I whispered, and he nodded.

I gulped.“Yes, of course I do.But not just for me.For all the big girls out there. That our strength, our power, our size… meant something more than just being… fat.”

“Granted.”

Harry’s head fell back and I pulled his head to my chest and sobbed my heart out.“Oh Harry, I’m sorry.I’m so, so sorry. Please Harry.Come back…”

Hot tears poured down my cheeks and I wiped them away as the vision disappeared from the air as though it had never been.My nose dripped so I conjured up some tissues and blew my nose, well aware that I was now totally vulnerable to the witch.

My heart was broken all over again.

Leo came closer, sliding his hand over my leg.“Tania… I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay,” I managed, blowing my nose and wiping away the final tear.

I straightened my back and focused on the witch still sitting opposite us.“Does that answer your question?”

She nodded.“The genie spell is forbidden.”

My stomach flipped in anxiety.“I know. And Harry paid the price for it.”Another tear escaped my right eye and I dashed it away.

Would the ancient reverse the spell?Would my men still want me if I couldn’t do magic any longer?

I fixed my gaze on the witch once more.“What are you going to do?”

The ancient stood up.“Nothing.Your wish was an admirable one, and your honesty has given me the clarity I needed.”

I stood up, my legs wobbling with the effort.“So, we may go?”

She nodded.“Yes.”

She turned to leave the room and I looked around, noticing for the first time the dirt floor and the unkempt furniture.Despite what she’d done, I didn’t want to leave her like this.“Were you serious about me coming to visit?”

She turned, her eyebrows furrowed in seeming confusion.“Perhaps.”

“My mom would like to meet you,” I ventured, pretty sure my mom would be both horrified and ecstatic to meet an ancient.“Would we be able to come back sometime?”

The witch held out her hand and conjured a crystal ball.“This is a portal to guide you back.Your mother and you are welcome.”

I walked forward to retrieve the gift, managed a wobbly smile, then rushed back to my men who were standing and waiting for me.

“Touch the crystal and you will be transported back to your home,” the witch said.“But make sure you tell those wolves to stay out of my woods.”

“I will.”I glanced at Mason and Leo.“Hold onto me.”

The guys grabbed my arms and with a final nod at the ancient, I called on the magic of the crystal ball, and we were back home.Safe and sound.
