Not only for me.

For Leo. Our baby.

Rex is surprised at first, a shocked gasp landing against my mouth. But as he settles, his large hand wraps around the back of my head and…

He remembers.

My nipples perk in my bra, my center trembles.

I remember too.

Rex breaks the kiss. Good. Because I probably wouldn’t have and I’d regret it. “What’s that for?”

“I don’t know, just couldn’t help it.”

A lazy smile appears on his kissable lips. “I like when you’re impulsive.” He takes our clasped hands and slides them under his shirt. To the place on his ribs his tattoo lies. Though the ink is a part of his skin, I can feel it like it’s raised. A scar. “You still have yours?”

“Yeah, I do,” I say.

Rex and I breathe together. We are synced.

If I don’t get out of here fast, I really will crawl in there with him.

“Let me see it sometime?”

I yank my hand out from under his shirt and trip back away from the car door, laughing maniacally. “Oh, well, ha, I don’t know, um. I don’t know.”

When my eyes return to Rex, he’s smiling smugly.

Ass.

I scratch the back of my head. “I’ll text you the details of the meeting with the headmistress.”

“Sounds good.”

I look him up and down. It’s a better look than the ill-fitting paper thing button-down and khakis but it’s not going to fly for a private school meeting. “And let me know your sizing and stuff.”

Rex guffaws. “Uh, why?”

“You can’t go to the meeting wearing stuff of your taste level.”

He shrugs. “Maybe the headmistress is a fan?”

“Yeah, right,” I snort.

“You never know, maybe an autograph and a donation could go a long way if –”

“Let’s just try doing this the way everyone else does first, huh?” I ask.

Rex eyes me playfully. “Right, by pretending we’re married. I’m sure that’s how everyone does it.”

“Shut up,” I say.

He hums through a laugh. It’s a beautiful sound. Warm in my belly.

“Anyway…” I take a step back.

“Isabella.”
