“Forgetting something?” he asked.

Jackson cleared his throat. “We were just waiting for you guys out here. I figured we’d all walk down together.”

Dominik shook his head. “Too risky. We need to stay split up instead of in a group. Makes us too much of a target.”

“Uh huh.”

I ran my hands through my hair before I came out from behind Dominik. “Take my sister and get her to your place. Make sure she understands that she isn’t to leave for any reason.”

Jackson’s stare scoured my body for a while. “Will do. Are you sure you guys are okay?”

I nodded. “We’re fine. We’re just discussing things. We’ll be along to Dominik’s place after a while.”

And with one last stroke of his gaze over my body, Jackson drew in a deep breath. “I’ll let you guys know when everyone is safe on this end.”

“Thanks,” Dominik said curtly.

Then, his office door closed, and their footsteps backtracked.

Leaving the two of us alone with a thread of desire that tried to tug our bodies back together.
