I smirked down at the titillating woman, “I suppose you’ve been saved by the bell.”

She winked at me. “Let me know if you’re interested in... talking more later.”

I watched her pull a card from her purse before slipping it into the breast pocket of my suit jacket. The warmth of her palm as it caressed my chest pulled a chuckle from deep within the pit of my gut, and I had every intention of wrapping those thighs of hers around my waist later. You know, once I stuffed her full of the toys I had back at my place.

And as she slipped away from me, taking her slender form with her, I turned to face my best friend.

“Yes?” I asked.

He puckered his lips as he watched the woman walk away, swaying her hips from side to side. “I interrupted something, didn’t I?”

“You mean, you couldn’t tell that from the other side of the room?”

“Well, if it helps, I’m sorry,” he waved his hand in the air. “Anyway, will you look at the size of this banquet? I’m pretty sure this is the most packed it’s ever been.”

I turned to face the room as I stood beside him. “It’s glorious.”

“Yes,” Jackson nodded, “I did quite an exceptional job pulling it together, if I say so myself.”

“Shonda set everything up.”

“Yes, but I approved everything. It couldn’t have happened without me.”

“I’m sure,” I smirked. “So, where’s this hot date of yours?”

He wrapped his arm around my neck and pointed. “See that lovely lady over there?”

I squinted my eyes. “All I see is our caterer.”

He slapped my chest. “Exactly. Beneath that apron Emily Evangeline has got a pair of long, slender legs that I’m going to have wrapped around me for the rest of the night.”

I quirked an eyebrow as I shrugged off his touch. “Why the hell are you interfering with my caterer? No wonder her servers aren’t focused. She’s not focused.”

“Hey, sometimes you can’t stop love.”

I studied the woman from across the room. “She’s not really your type.”

He barked with laughter. “She’s gorgeous and she’s got a great fucking smile. Of course, she’s my type.”

“Mr. Drake!” I heard Mrs. Lundst’s voice come out of nowhere before she threaded her arm through mine. “There you are. My word, I’ve been trying to find you all evening.”

I put on my best smile for one of my biggest donors and turned my back to Jackson.

“I’ll leave you to it,” he murmured before he moved away from me.

I watched over the woman’s shoulder as he went right back into the orbit of my fucking caterer.

“This party is outstanding,” Mrs. Lundst said as she slid her open hand through the air in front of us. “I mean, it’s probably the largest one you’ve thrown to date.”

I nodded as I continued watching Jackson flirt with the woman who I had paid to do nothing but keep her head down and work. “Yes, I suppose it is.”

She started leading me through the crowd. “I wanted to speak with you briefly about our little pet project we talked about last year? I didn’t hear from you much about it and I was wondering if you were still giving it some thought.”

I forced my stare away from my best friend and focused on the woman tugging me along. “I have given it a great deal of thought, actually, and I think that starting a charity centered around the company would be a great idea.”

“Wonderful P.R. as well, which a P.R. company should always have.”

I nodded. “Of course.”
