Isabella: Oh, that’s wonderful! When do you start?

Me: Next May, right after graduation. Will you move to Los Angeles with me?

It seemed like an eternity waiting for Isabella to get back to me. I had no way of knowing whether she was thinking about her options or just busy with a table. We had discussed our lives together, but perhaps this new reality made her feet grow cold?

I finally breathed a sigh of relief when she replied.

Isabella:Of course, I will!

I spentthe rest of that day cleaning up the fraternity house. The Omicron Alpha fraternity house would be vacant until we returned in January, and the landlord would be doing an inspection of the place. To say the house was a mess would be a drastic understatement.

My brothers and I had to repair holes in the wall, caused from drunken bets about who could hit their head the hardest without falling down. There were even notches on the wall in some of the bedrooms, which I assumed stemmed from how many girls had been in there.

It was a sobering experience that made me rethink being in the fraternity.

Aiden joined me in the pool room a short while later, where I was on my hands and knees scrubbing up vomit.

“Do you know who the fuck puked in here and didn’t clean it up? This is absolutely disgusting.”

Aiden grabbed a sponge and got to work with me, chiseling it up and gagging in the process. “No idea, but this is fucking nasty.”

I threw the sponge into the bucket and sat back on my heels. “I don’t think I wanna be in this fraternity anymore.”

“What? Get the fuck outta here, man.”

I gestured to the entire room, which had couches turned upside down and questionable stains on the rug. “Dude, we’re too old for this shit.”

“You literally have one semester left, Blade. Don’t do this to me. You’re the fucking president.”

As was my father, which was my only reason for joining the fraternity in the first place.

I went back to cleaning up the room, wondering if I should follow in Isabella’s footsteps and defy my parents. Granted, they weren’t nearly as toxic as hers, but I was an adult and should do what I wanted. And being in a fraternity was no longer at the top of my list.

Isabella and I could get an apartment together, and spend our final semester as an official couple. Maybe it was too soon, since we hadn’t even been together for more than a few months, but I’d never been so sure of anything in my life. Plus, I was eager to leave my fraternity days behind me. Hopefully she felt the same about being in a sorority, which also took up a lot of her time.

By the time I was finished cleaning up that afternoon, I decided that I was done with Omicron Alpha.

To celebrate our final night together at the house, my brothers and I decided to have a movie night with pizza and wings. I headed down to a local restaurant, picked up the food, and came back ready to relax. I actually looked forward to waking up without a hangover in the morning.

Granted, my stomach would probably be upset from all the junk food I’d be eating, but at least my mind would be functioning.

My stomach dropped as I returned to the fraternity house, wondering why the hell it was so fucking loud inside. Isabella texted me before I got to the front door.

Isabella:Just wanted to check in on you. I’ll be working until eleven, then home and straight to bed.

Me: I’m fine, babe. Heading into the house now with pizza and wings. The guys and I are gonna watch movies tonight.

Isabella: So, no sorority girls will be showing up?

I low-keyloved that Isabella was a little jealous at times, because it showed that she cared. Yeah, yeah, I know that jealousy is a sign of toxicity, but a little bit of it is healthy in my book. Even though we were confident enough in our relationship to know that we’d never cheat on each other.

Me:Nope, just us guys. Even if girls did show up, everyone knows that I’m yours.

That was an understatement.

Isabella and I had officially become a couple on social media. Plus, she was able to get that anonymous social media account taken down that was out to get her. No pictures had been uploaded of her since the charity event weekend. We never knew who was behind them, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that we were finally together without any drama.

Isabella:That’s what I love to hear. Goodnight.
