Forrest

I’m sorry. Was that too much too soon?

Alone in my room, I giggled. Talking to Forrest this way made me feel so alive.

Daisy

No. It’s just that we’re on different wavelengths. You have the R-rated thoughts when you see me, and apparently, I have X-rated ones about you when I’m sleeping.

Time passed with no response from Forrest.

In fact, I never saw him typing a reply.

As the seconds ticked by, I started to think I’d gone too far. It was such a bummer, because I thought we were having fun and being playful. Maybe there was a limit to just how far Forrest was willing to go with me.

Just when I was about to send another text and apologize to him, my phone vibrated in my hand.

Forrest was calling me.

Hesitantly, I answered, “Hello?”

“What were they about?”

“What?”

“You said you had X-rated thoughts about me while you were sleeping. I want to know what they were,” he clarified.

Could I tell him?

Texting was one thing, but this was something else.

And what would he think if I did share the truth?

“Daisy?” he called after I’d remained silent for far too long.

“Yeah?”

“Tell me about your dreams,” he demanded softly.

I licked my lips, loving the sound of his voice. “It was only one.”

“What happened? What did I do?”

“Nothing.”

“Nothing?” he repeated, his voice sounding wounded.

“You offered a lot of instruction and were very demanding, but mostly, you remained fully clothed and just watched me touch my naked body while you refused to let me see myself through to the end,” I revealed.

I was met with silence.

“Did I eventually let that happen?” he asked, his voice hoarse.

“You were about to touch me when my phone woke me up,” I shared.

He chuckled. “I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, me too. The Forrest in my dreams has left a lot to be desired,” I mumbled.
