“But I can’t just decide to live with them. There are rules,” I protested, getting my outfit on for the day.

“Well, rules are meant to be bent. Especially when it comes to mates. Your wolf…wolves aren’t going to let you be away from them for extended periods of time without getting snappy about it.” We grabbed our bags but made no move for the door.

“I have an idea,” June said.

“Why do I have a feeling that I’m not going to like your idea?” I laughed.

“Oh, but you will. We can’t technically move you on paper and you’re worried about me being alone. I have a friend named Teresa who is desperate to get out of her living situation. If you go live with your mates, then Teresa can come live with me. We have to keep our big mouths shut about it, but it would work, right?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Teresa is rooming with those bully girls. The ones who…” She punched herself lightly on the jaw like those girls had done to me. “She needs to get out.”

“I can talk to the guys about it,” I said.

June laughed. “Good because there’s no way you’re getting mated from over here. You need time with them.”

“Okay, okay. Way to get rid of your bestie.” I laughed.

“Karelis, I’m helping you.”

She opened the door and let out a little squeal. “Speak of the devil,” she said. “Good morning, Casimir. You’re walking my girl to breakfast?”

He chuckled. “I thought she was my girl. But yes. Come on. I’ll walk both of you.”

Chapter Four

Casimir

Only an hour before, Karelis had left our suite and gone back to her own room but, to me and my wolf, it stretched out like a decade. Perhaps because I’d waited so long for her. My wolf had an inkling that Blaze, Adan, and I would share a mate since we were best friends and were so close, but with mates and Fate, you never knew.

“Where are the other two?” June asked as we walked along. She stayed a foot or so behind us, giving us space. When I reached for Karelis’ hand, she laced her fingers with mine.

“Blaze and Adan are probably already in the dining hall.”

We went there, following the scents of bacon and maple syrup, and I instantly found my friends. And they instantly found Karelis.

They already had food ready for her, and June grumbled, something about needing someone to get her breakfast and her coffee.

When it was time, we got up, and I followed her. “Your classes are the other way, Mr. Senior,” she teased.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her against my side. “I’m making sure you get to class okay and then I’ll go to mine.” I held up a hand, quelling her protests. “I am well aware that you can take care of yourself, but you wouldn’t deny me the chance to prove myself to my mate. I am from a warrior pack, after all. We like to beat our chests with our fists once in a while.”

She laughed hard but then slapped her hand over her mouth realizing that she was in school, right outside of her first class, actually.

“Ah, mate, your laugh is beautiful.” I stroked her cheek with my knuckles.

“You’re causing a scene, Cas. Scenes aren’t good for me.” Despite her protest, a blush crept up her cheeks.

“Good. They all need to know that you’re my mate and you’re taken.”

She snorted. “It’s not me that you have to worry about. The entire female student population isn’t clawing each other’s eyes out for me.”

I winked at her. “Well, let’s show them that I’m taken as well.” I pulled her against me and kissed her right there in front of everyone. I heard the whispers and some aggravated sighs. “Now they know. Get in there before I change my mind about letting you get to class at all today.”

She went in after stumbling over a few steps as I chuckled. Good to know that I had such an effect on my mate.

As soon as I knew she was safely inside, I rushed to my own class, sure I would be later than late. Not that I was worried. A few verbal licks from the headmistress would be worth it to make sure that our mate was safe.
