Blaze nodded. “That’s where my twin goes. He has two mates. And there’s Valentina, one of his good friends who has three wolf mates. They are very powerful, and we would be safe there, but also”—he looked around at the others—“we want to be better for you. We could be together there. We wouldn’t be under all of these rules and restrictions. If we wanted to take our mate out on a date, we could. We miss you.”

“I’m down the hall,” I responded, feeling Adan’s hold tighten on me. He laid his head against my back. “But yeah. Going on a date that didn’t involve breaking all the school rules would be great.”

Casimir had stayed quiet, but he moved in his chair and sighed, long and heavy. “Not to mention, mated shifters should be able to sleep in the same suite, apartment, dorm, whatever. In other schools, mated couples or harems are respected, and students do better when they are near their mates. You can’t study if your wolf is preoccupied with where his mate is.”

His eyes met mine. “Cas, are you having trouble studying because of me?”

“I’m not having trouble, but I’m man enough to admit that most of my brain power is going to you lately. And that’s okay. You’re my mate. Most of my thoughts should be with you.”

I got up and moved to Casimir’s lap. He nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck and held me tightly. “I miss you all the time.”

“You didn’t tell me.”

“I didn’t want you to worry, Karelis. You do enough fretting without me adding to it.”

I turned around to face the others. “I know we haven’t…really mated, but I don’t want to be anywhere where you three aren’t. If you think that getting out of here is the best, and after the shit day I had I’m in total agreement, then tell me what the hell we have to do to get out of here.”

The rest of the night we planned. We schemed, but it was all for our good. We would have to walk the straight and narrow from then on, with one stipulation.

I would move in with them. They wouldn’t have our life any other way.

But it made me nervous.

“What’s going on, Karelis?” Casimir asked. “Your scent got…sharp?”

I laughed. “I’m not sure how all of this works. The three of you.”

Casimir hugged me and put his chin on my shoulder. “It works however you want it to work, mate. You call the shots. It’s your harem, after all.”

“Two days ago, I didn’t even know I could have mates,” I said. “You know that means I have zero experience with…mating.”

Blaze took my feet in his hands and kneaded. “We’ll make it perfect for you, mate. Don’t worry.”

Chapter Eight

Casimir

“This is it?” I asked, deadpanning Karelis’ bag. The one bag that she’d carried while she was running and on the streets and a box of all of her school stuff.

“Are you complaining? Cas, look how easy it is to move me. Here. Watch. I can move it myself.”

Blaze growled from across the room as our mate moved to pick up the bag. “I’ve got it, mate.”

June snickered, covering her mouth.

“Did you just growl at me?” she asked, hands on her hips.

“No.” Blaze pecked her on the lips. “I growled at the idea of you picking up your own things while Cas stands there like an ass upset about the gods know what.”

I locked eyes with my mate. I didn’t want her to think that I was upset with her. Not at all. “I’m upset that this is all you own. I have more than this in my dresser. I can’t even take my mate shopping or on a proper date.”

“You will one day. Okay? We’re working on one day. Now, let’s get this stuff out of here so we can help Teresa get her stuff in. We have to be careful.”

“You wouldn’t let me go ahead. I could be already getting her stuff,” Adan pointed out to our mate.

“That’s because Teresa’s roommates are the founding mothers of the Three Kings Fan Club,” June argued back.

“I hate that name, for the record. We aren’t kings. We’re just guys,” I grumbled.
