That's my sis!

Wanna meet for lunch? I need to celebrate. Finally, a bite!

Cassie

I'm in!

Ava

Just say where and when and I'll be there.

My eyes widened as I continued to read the email, my heart pounding in my chest. "The interview will consist of an assessment of your management skills and a discussion with senior partners about your experience and qualifications," it read. This was shaping up to be more than just a casual sit-down. They were taking this seriously, which meant I had to bring my A-game.

The prospect of sharing this milestone with them was so exciting I was giddy, and I couldn't help but feel like this was the beginning of something special.

An hour later, I walked into the trendy café, spotting Ava and Cassie already seated at a corner table. The scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the aroma of warm pastries, creating an inviting atmosphere that matched the animated chatter around us. It seemed like the entire world was celebrating with me.

"Hey, there she is!" Ava called out, waving me over with a grin plastered on her face. "The future employed person office manager extraordinaire!"

"About damn time we got some good news," Cassie added, her eyes lighting up as she jumped up to give me a tight hug. "I can't even imagine how excited you must be, Calla!"

"Excited? That's an understatement," I laughed, settling into the seat next to them. "Honestly, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it."

"Girl, you deserve this," Ava said, leaning back in her chair and sipping her latte. "You've been busting your ass, and it's about time someone took notice. So, tell us everything. When's the interview?"

"Next week," I replied, feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation. "I'm already thinking about what to wear, what to say... God, I hope I don't mess this up."

"Please," Cassie scoffed, rolling her eyes playfully. "You're going to rock that interview like nobody's business. And besides, if you're nervous, just picture the interviewer in their underwear."

"Great, now I'll be trying not to laugh during the interview," I chuckled, shaking my head at their antics. It was impossible not to feel lighter in their presence, their energy and humor infectious.

"Hey, laughter is the best medicine, right?" Cassie winked, nudging me with her elbow. "Now let's dig into some food and celebrate this amazing news!"

As we shared our meal, the conversation flowed easily – from discussing potential interview questions to daydreaming about how this job could change my life. The weight of my past seemed to lift slightly, replaced with a sense of hope and possibility.

"Do you know what kind of office it is?" Ava chimed in. "Maybe knowing that would help you prepare for the interview."

"I have no clue," I said in between bites. "This is a hiring agency, so they just arrange interviews and you're none the wiser about what kind of office it is. I think it's also the business' option of whether they want to reveal who they are beforehand and this office didn't."

"Does that make you nervous?" Cassie asked.

"Actually, I haven't had time to think of that yet, so thank you!" I laughed. "Yeah, I guess it makes me nervous, but then I don't really have time to be nervous. It kind of cuts out all the 'what-ifs' that can run through your head. And I would likely be trolling them all-day, every day, until the interview. They don't even give you the address. This agency sends a car to pick you up."

"Ooh-la-la," Ava cooed. "This sounds pretty posh. And secretive."

"Maybe it's a sign of the calibre of office you're going to be working at," Cassie added.

"Well, hold on now. I don't have the job."

Cassie and Ava both stopped and looked at me. "YET." Their unison voices rang out in the café and made me laugh.

Cassie continued. "They've already seen your credentials. You have a great grade-point average and amazing work history. But when you walk in the room?" She rolled her eyes. "They are going to want you to start immediately. I mean, you're smart and can do an excellent job, but you have the va-va-voom factor!" We all crumpled into giggles.

"No, shit, you do. Calla, you are going to make the most gorgeous office manager ever. Honestly, you're going to have to work against type because everyone is going to assume you're a bimbo because of your holy hotness," Ava pointed out.

After I stopped laughing hard, I couldn't help but be thankful that these two were here with me right now. "Guys, thank you for always being my best cheerleaders," I said sincerely, raising my glass in a toast. "I couldn't have gotten this far without you."

"Cheers to that!" Ava and Cassie chorused, clinking their glasses against mine.
