And as we toasted to new beginnings, I couldn't help but feel that maybe, just maybe, everything was finally falling into place.

"Plus," Ava added, winking playfully, "think of all the new, potentially sexy colleagues you're going to meet and work with."

"Ugh, Ava, seriously?" I laughed, rolling my eyes. "Dating someone in the office is always tricky."

"Of course it is," she agreed, grinning mischievously. "But it just adds that extra challenge, doesn't it? And hey, if it happens, it happens."

"Okay, okay," I conceded, chuckling at her endless teasing. "I'll leave my options open. But seriously, thank you guys. I can't imagine celebrating with any other else but you two."

"Hey," Cassie said, reaching across the table to give my hand a reassuring squeeze. "That's what friends and family are for, right? And we're always gonna be here for you, Calla."

"You bet your booties," Ava agreed, raising her coffee cup in a mock toast. "Now let's celebrate this amazing news and start planning your future as a badass boss lady!"

"Alright," I announced, lifting my wine glass and grinning at Ava and Cassie. "To new beginnings, amazing opportunities, and the best friends a girl could ask for."

"Cheers to that!" Ava agreed enthusiastically, clinking her mug against mine and Cassie's.

"Here's to you being a major boss babe!" Cassie chimed in, and we all took a hearty sip of our drinks, smiles plastered across our faces.

"Okay, but seriously," Ava began, leaning in conspiratorially as she lowered her voice. "Do you have any idea what you're going to wear to the interview? You've gotta make an impression!"

"Ava, already on to the outfit?" I laughed, shaking my head at her priorities. "But if I'm being honest, I haven't even thought about it yet."

"Are you kidding me?" Cassie gasped in mock horror. "You know you can't just walk in there wearing your usual jeans and t-shirt combo, right?"

"Hey!" I protested, feigning offense. "It's more like tank tops and pyjama bottoms, thank you very much!"

Cassie only nodded, knowing that I rarely got dressed these days if I didn't have to go out.

"Sure, but do you own anything that says 'I'm a professional badass who deserves this job'?" Ava chimed in, raising an eyebrow.

"Ugh, fine," I conceded, rolling my eyes playfully. "Maybe I'll go shopping this weekend to find something that screams 'hire me.'"

"Excellent," Cassie approved, nodding her head with a satisfied grin. "Let's all go. We'll help you pick out the perfect ensemble."

"Speaking of dreams," I said, shifting the conversation, "what about you two? Any big plans or goals you're working towards?"

"Actually," Ava replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "I've been considering opening my own little art studio. You know, somewhere I can teach classes and sell my work."

"Wow, Ava," I said, genuinely impressed. "That's amazing! You'd be fantastic at that."

"Thanks," she replied, blushing slightly. "What about you, Cassie? Any grand plans?"

"Me?" Cassie giggled, her eyes lighting up with a mischievous glint. "Well, I've always wanted to start my own line of...wait for it... designer dog clothes!"

"Shut up!" I laughed, nearly choking on my coffee. "You're joking, right?"

"Absolutely not!" Cassie insisted, grinning from ear to ear. "Just imagine all those cute little pups strutting their stuff in my fabulous creations!"

"Alright, you two," I chuckled, shaking my head at their wild dreams, but secretly admiring their passion and ambition. "We'll just have to conquer the world together, won't we?"

"Yup! These three right here on this table are going to rule the universe!" Ava agreed, lifting her glass once more. "To us, and our crazy, beautiful dreams."

"Cheers!" we exclaimed in unison, clinking our cups together before taking sips of our respective drinks. The warmth of the coffee spread through my body, fueling a sense of contentment that I had not felt in quite some time.

As Ava and Cassie chatted animatedly about their ambitious dreams, I allowed my gaze to drift out the café window, watching as people scurried past on the busy sidewalk. My mind wandered, reflecting on the potential this job held for me. It was more than just a paycheck or a stepping stone on my career path; it was an opportunity to prove myself, to show everyone, including myself, that I was capable of success.

I thought back to the countless nights spent poring over textbooks during business school, pushing myself to excel despite numerous setbacks and heartbreaks. This office manager position represented everything I had been working towards, and it could be the catalyst for breaking down the walls I had built around myself.
