As I sat down in the passenger front seat, it looked like he was coming straight from the office.

"Hey there," he said. "Sorry about the rude way to pick you up, but there was really no option at this time of the day.

"No problem whatsoever. I don't mind and totally get it."

"I hope you don't mind coming back to my place. I haven't been able to get home in time to change, so will just pop in there to get myself a little more casual."

"Yeah, sounds good. Were you the last to leave the office?"

"Yes, I was." Dom's speech came a little slower as he kept his eye on all the moving traffic. "The boys are heading to the club later. We all workout downtown, so they were making plans."

"You don't want to go?"

"Nah, it's okay. We spend so much time together. I'd like to spend some more time with you."

I smiled, not really sure of what to say.

He continued. "Was there anything in particular you feel like doing? I have to be honest that I haven't given it too much thought yet. I'm still shutting off my work-brain. I usually walk to work so I have that buffer time to change brains, but had to do an errand today, so I brought the car. I now know why I walk to work instead of trying to drive. This traffic is insane."

"It sure is. It's why I don't have a car at all. I can walk everywhere or take public transportation or my bike. Downtown Boston is one place where having a car isn't necessary." I paused as I realized we were approaching Dom's place. "As for what to do, I also haven't given it much thought. We could just go for a walk to the center and grab a bite and watch the sunset."

"Sounds good." He effortlessly went down the ramp to his parking garage and parked his car. It was definitely a higher end building. Security cameras were everywhere, and the garage was spotless. "Well, here we are. Are you okay to come up and just wait while I get ready?"

"You bet." Riding up the elevator to his apartment was a little different from last time. Last time, we were giddy from our drinks, hot and heated, and couldn't wait to get naked. Now, we seemed to both feel a little inhibited, standing a little farther apart, watching the numbers go up to the penthouse level.

The doors opened, revealing the pristine hallway to Dom's door. I waited for him to unlock his door, which he opened for me to step in first.

Last time, it was dark, and I barely got a good look at everything. Now, in the day, it was even more impressive than I remembered. His apartment was architecturally interesting. The ceilings were troffered, and the room separators were actual pieces of art. His apartment overlooked the city from a huge deck that seemed to stretch out into the Boston city skyline.

He put his satchel down and followed me in. I was standing in the open-concept living room, looking out onto the deck. He veered toward the kitchen, where he opened one of the sleek, modern cupboards.

"Would you like a drink?"

"Uh… sure. Water is fine."

He grabbed a glass, filled it with ice, and topped it off with water and a slice of lemon he had in his freezer. Note to self, this guy has got it together.

He walked the glass to me as I admired the view. I took the glass as he turned to open the patio so I could go outside.

"Come, take a look," he said.

We stepped outside. You could still feel the heat of the city come off the streets, the faint honking and bustle of traffic below, but the view was breathtaking. I walked to the edge of his patio and leaned on the glass railing, looking down.

"This is amazing," I said.

"Not afraid of heights, I see," Dom chuckled. "A lot of people don't want to get too close to the edge."

"I love heights, actually. It's incredible to be up this high. You can see everything from here. I don't think I appreciated how much water we have around here. I often just think of the harbor, but it's everywhere, all around us."

"Yes. That's what I love about Boston." Dom took a thoughtful step back and then turned to me again. "Did you just want to stay here and enjoy the view while I grab a quick shower and change? Shouldn't be long."

"Yeah, sure. I'll just be out here."

"Help yourself to more water. We'll find something to eat soon."

"Sounds great."

He left and went inside. He left the patio doors open. This was absolutely amazing. I settled into a patio chair and set my water down on the little table beside me. Leaning my head back, I closed my eyes. I could get used to this.
