Calla

Iclicked the save button on my computer and leaned back in my chair, letting out a deep breath. My work for the day was finally done, but the anticipation of what was to come left me with a giddy mix of excitement and nervousness. I couldn't help but think about the plan that had been brewing in my mind all day.

Dom had checked in the office this morning, saying a quick, friendly, "hello" to me, but then had to run to the hospital. One of his patients needed attention, so he had been gone most of the day. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him come back into the office. He looked like he had the world on his shoulders and a million things on his mind.

I knew that what I had in mind would relax him and, well, I really missed him this past weekend.

"Alright, Calla, let's do this," I whispered to myself, trying to shake off the nerves.

I stood up and stretched, trying to build up the courage to do what I wanted to do. Walking to the office next door, he was hunched over his desk, brow furrowed as he studied a document intently. The focused expression on his face was undeniably sexy, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to him.

"OMG, he’s so hot," I muttered under my breath, watching as Dominic ran his fingers through his dark hair in frustration. I knew he had been working tirelessly on some important project, and I couldn't help but admire his dedication.

"Hey, Dominic," I called out, hesitating at the door of his office. He looked up from his papers, surprise flickering across his features as he registered my presence.

"Calla, hey," he stammered, clearly caught off guard. "What can I do for you?"

"Thought you could use a break," I said playfully, leaning against the doorframe. "You've been working super hard today."

Dominic sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just... it seems like the mountain of what I have to get done never shifts, and me taking the weekend off doesn't help."

"Of course," I agreed, taking a step into the room. "But sometimes taking a little break can actually make you more productive. You might see other possibilities that leap frog your work. Plus, I might want to spend some more time with you. I missed you this weekend, you know."

Dominic hesitated, his gaze flitting between me and his work. But his look softened. "I thought about you a lot, too." He leaned back in his chair. "Well, I suppose a break couldn't hurt," he finally conceded with a small smile.

"Great," I said, feeling my heart race in anticipation. "So, what do you say we go and have some fun?"

"Fun?" Dominic echoed, raising an eyebrow. "What exactly did you have in mind?"

"Trust me," I replied with a wink. "You'll find out soon enough."

"Fun" echoed in my mind as I studied Dominic's face, trying to gauge his reaction. The flirtatious banter between us wasn't unusual, but the idea of taking it a step further had been simmering in my thoughts for quite some time. I couldn't deny the surge of attraction that made my heart race and my cheeks flush. After all, how could someone not be attracted to Dominic Harrington – successful neurologist, intelligent, charming, and devilishly handsome?

"Okay, Calla, what are we going to do?" I muttered under my breath. I wanted to do something special together, something meaningful yet something that would relax him and take his mind off things. This was supposed to be just harmless fun, a way to blow off steam after a long day at work. And besides, it was about time I let loose and enjoyed myself for once. He was just a man, right? No reason to be nervous.

"Did you say something?" Dominic asked, looking up from his laptop with a curious expression on his face.

"Nothing important," I replied, shaking my head and forcing a playful smile. "Just working on my strategy for our little break."

"Strategy, huh?" he said, leaning back in his chair and folding his arms across his chest. "Now I'm intrigued."

"Good," I said, feeling a wave of confidence wash over me. I approached his desk, placing one hand on the edge and leaning forward ever so slightly. "You should be."

Dominic's gaze traveled from my eyes down to my lips, and I could see the wheels turning in his head. It was now or never.

"Alright then," I said, standing up straight and offering him my hand. "Let's go have some fun, shall we?"

"Yes ma’am," he murmured as he took my hand, his fingers wrapping around mine with surprising warmth. "If you insist."

"Trust me, I do," I replied, giving him a wink, ready to embrace this new adventure together.

We left the office, stepping out in the late afternoon. The office was close enough to the harbor to taste the salty air. It just pulled you in and called you to come closer.

"Oh God, it feels so good to be outside, doesn't it?" I asked Dom, looking back at him but savoring our interlaced fingers. This was the first time I was being so bold to take him by the hand in our professional setting. But the farther I pulled him from the office, the better it felt for it to just be us; Dom and Calla.

"Yes. If I happen to forget to tell you, thank you for dragging me out. Sometimes I just need this." Dom looked at me appreciatively, and I really felt it.

I gave his hand a squeeze and walked toward the harbor. Then it struck me: we could do a quick visit to the Institute of Contemporary Art. I didn't understand modern art most of the time, but it was always great to expand my horizons. The museum was a work of art in itself.
