"Wha—?" I stammered, gripping the sheet tightly to cover my exposed body. "What's that?"

"Your hangover cure," he replied, walking towards the bed and passing the glass to me. "Drink up. It'll help with the headache."

"Actually, my head isn't that bad, but thanks," I mumbled, accepting the concoction hesitantly. The aroma of ginger and lemon wafted up to my nose, and despite its appearance, it didn't seem so bad. Hell, it had to be better than the pounding in my skull.

Dominic perched on the edge of the bed, studying me with a mix of worry and frustration. I couldn't help but feel a wave of guilt wash over me. Somehow, I ended up here. Naked. In his bed.

Damn it, Calla, I thought. You've really screwed things up this time.

"Dom, how did I end up here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. I needed answers, and I needed them now. The curiosity was killing me, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had royally messed up.

Dominic ran a hand through his tousled hair and sighed, his gaze never leaving mine. "You drunk-called me last night during the concert," he explained, his tone gentle and patient. "You didn’t sound like someone who should have been unattended."

"Shit," I muttered, rubbing my temples as I tried to recall the events of last night. "I don't even know what happened. I didn't drink that much…"

"How much did you drink?" Dom asked, suddenly concerned.

"Well, I had a one cooler, and then I went to get another one. I had to go to the bathroom, so I asked someone to take care of it for me. When I came back, I just had a few sips when they started to play my favorite song, so I went out onto the dance floor. That's when it kind of all goes fuzzy. I must have called you around then."

"Wait. What did you say? You left your drink unattended?"

"Well, someone looked after it for me. I was talking to him for a few minutes and he was really nice. I told him that I was going to be right back, and he said he would make sure my drink was protected. I felt like I could trust him, Dom. You don't think…"

"The fact you don't really have a headache, didn't drink a lot, yet were so totally out of it last night makes me think he may have slipped something into your drink. There are a lot of possible date rape drugs out there and, unfortunately, trusting people like you fall prey to it."

I was shocked. Yes, the guy last night seemed really nice, but suddenly I was feeling so stupid for trusting him.

"Is there any way to test whether I have it in my system?"

"Unfortunately, you would have to test it pretty soon after you ingested it. Typically around four hours is the limit. Now, a blood test wouldn't show anything."

I hung my head. "Oh, Dom. I feel so stupid. I'm so sorry."

"I'm sorry this happened to you. But I'm so glad you didn't drink a lot of it and also thought to call me as the effects were kicking in. That's what I'm really thankful for."

I hugged Dom and held him tightly. Suddenly, I felt so thankful for him. What did I do to deserve a man like this?

Dom kissed me lightly on the cheek. "Why don't you get showered, cleaned up and put some of my clothes on? Wear one of my shirts like a shirt-dress with your belt. That should work at least to get you home. I'm pretty sure you don't want to put your clothes from last night back on." He made a humorous, disgusted face that made me giggle.

"Thank you, Dom. I mean it."

"You're welcome. I'll be downstairs, making some brunch for you." I smiled at him as he discreetly closed the bedroom door. I sighed deeply. What a stupid person I was, to go to a concert by myself, out of sheer stubbornness. I really need to grow up one of these days. It's not like I want to not trust the world, but I need to be a little smarter about what might be out there.

I pulled myself out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Turning on the shower, I let the steam build up a little as I looked at myself in the mirror. My hair was all over the place, my mascara was under my eyes. Ugh. What a sight I was. And yet, Dom was still there.

I quickly showered, refreshed myself, and got dressed. Dom's light blue business shirt was perfect for a shirt dress. I felt protected by him when I pulled it over my shoulders. Glancing at the full-length mirror on the closet door, I thought that I scrubbed up pretty well from scruffy panda to basic babe. I giggled at my self-description.

Heading downstairs, I could smell some toast, and I heard the sizzling of the bacon. Dom is seriously the full package.

As I entered the kitchen and dining room, Dom was setting the table.

"This looks amazing, Dom. I feel very spoiled."

"It's just really simple. Toasted bagels, bacon, and eggs. You like your eggs runny, right?"

"Of course. Thank you." He gestured for me to have a seat. Coming back with coffee and orange juice, I felt like I could really get used to this.

He sat down after setting all the food on the table and we dug in. He wasn't being very talkative, and that started making me worry.
