It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and after my relaxing weekend where I just putzed around the house and caught up on my shopping and cleaning, I thought it was a great day to take a walk by the river.

I put on a light dress with a sweater, good walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, my bag containing a book and a thermos of coffee, and headed out.

Walking by the river made me appreciate what a beautiful city Boston was. Sometimes we get too busy and focus on everything we don't have that we forget to slow down and appreciate what we do have. The ships in the harbor, the people taking their Sunday morning jogs, the families playing in the park. There was so much good in this world. The golden sun shone down, creating a warmth that made me tie my sweater around my waist.

I felt light and happy.

Seeing an empty park bench, I sat down and opened my book. This was going to be a wonderful morning.

An hour passed, and I was starting to get a little hungry. That was one thing I forgot to bring. I decided to head into the city and pick up a snack.

I packed up my things and walked toward downtown. The brownstones guided my way in, and I noticed the beautiful lamp posts in greater detail than I had before. I don't know what had come over me, but there was a smile on my face that wasn't coming off anytime soon. Even people I was meeting randomly on the sidewalk were smiling and saying, "Hello". It was like Boston came alive.

I rounded the corner and came across a fruit and vegetable shop. Perfect.

I popped up the stairs and looked around at all the items that were on offer. Everything looked fresh and amazing. I reached for this most perfect apple, but to my surprise, another hand had beaten me to it.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" I exclaimed.

"Calla?"

Dom?

"Dom!" I practically jumped in his arms, encircling him in a big hug. "Oh, Dom!"

But then I suddenly stiffened and regained my composure, pulling away and smoothing down my dress.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I-I don't know what came over me." I kept my head down, not sure I could meet his eye. I was so embarrassed.

"No, no. It's fine," he said, as he grabbed me up in another tight hug. I relaxed, closed my eyes, and hugged him back. "I'm so glad to run into you."

Stepping back, I asked him, "When did you get back?"

"Late last night. I just crashed when I got back to my place."

"I can believe that. It must have been a crazy week."

"It was. But also crazy rewarding."

I didn't quite know what else to say. "Um… well, I was just out for a walk and decided to pick up some fruit for a snack. What are you doing here?"

"Same. Also picking up some fruit for the office tomorrow."

"Oh yeah, the guys didn't always remember, so after a day of no fruit, I started picking it up."

"Oh thanks. Yeah, the guys don't always remember that stuff."

He picked up the apple we were "fighting" over.

"Can I pack this up for you?" he asked teasingly.

"Sure, put in a couple more," I added.

"Do you have plans for the rest of the day?"

"Not really. Cassie's out of town and I have been catching up on housework and just enjoying being by myself."

"Sounds wonderful. Do you want to hang out?"
