I hope for the second one.

Me

And I would like to see you

Send.

I wait for exactly one hour to get a response. Or at least that’s how it feels like.

Sparks

Sure

What do you have in mind?

“Yes!” I jump from my seat, pumping a fist in the air.

“Right?” Nate probably thinks I’m celebrating whatever he said. “Those chicks are hot, so if none of them are into the birthday boy, I’ll be next in line.”

I frown down at him. “The hell are you talking about?”

“Chicks.” His eyes are as wide as they can go. “We’ll invite so many chicks. Get you laid. Get us laid. It’s gonna be grand.”

I glance over at Conor, who is nodding like there’s nothing to see here.

How can I tell them I don’t want chicks? I just want one. A very specific one. One I don’t even know for sure is really interested in me. Sure, she practically ate my mouth when we made out. But that doesn’t necessarily mean she wants the rest of me. Not when I myself, of my own volition, went and told her to forget that all happened. And she agreed.

I head back to my dorm after training’s over, unable to break that to them. They still think that, in three days, I’ll be looking for the chance to hook up among the attendees of my so-called birthday party and thank them for it.

I crash on my bed, facing the ceiling. Damn it, I have it real bad. I always knew I was a whipped fool with my ex, but even that wasn’t this bad. At least in that relationship, I was whipped after we officially became an item. Tinker Bell has me wrapped around her pinky finger already, and we haven’t even gone on one date.

“What’s wrong with you now?”

I jump sky high. “Where the hell did you come from?”

My roommate’s sitting on his bed, a textbook on his lap and a scowl on his face. “I’ve been here the whole time, dolt.”

“Oh.” I can’t even deny it. I am a dolt. I respond in a mumble. “What’s wrong with me, you ask? I have to attend a party for my birthday that I don’t want, with girls I’m not interested in instead of the one I’m into.”

“Wow. I wasn’t sure before, but I definitely hate you now.” The deadpan in his voice and expression make me laugh. “And you’re really agonizing about this like it’s a terrible thing?”

“Yeah.” I sigh with my whole chest.

“What if I disguise myself as you?” He shrugs. “I wanna meet girls.”

“Wait.” I shift on my side to prop up my head. “Why are you being… friendly, or whatever the hell this is?”

He frowns down at his book. “I wanted to see if what you said was true.”

“Huh?”

He glares, as if I should’ve read his mind. “That you’re not an asshole if I get to know you.”

I can’t help it when my jaw drops a bit. “Miracles do happen, huh?”

“Shut up.”

“How about this? Come to the party, meet the team, and see that everyone’s just as obsessed with meeting girls as you. You might end up with friends and a date. Who knows.”
