I turn my face so he can see mine.

Curtly, he asks, “Does this prove we are siblings?”

Scotch moves to my side. “There’s a strong probability you have very close genetic similarities if you carry a birthmark like that.”

The man’s voice edges harder. “My mother gave birth to me. She’d never cheat on my father. How does this happen?”

“Hell if I know.” I move to the other bed and drop down to sit on the edge as I try to put together the pieces from my very faded memory. My years with my mother weren’t exactly full of loving moments of sharing. It was as if she never wanted me.

“My mother supposedly delivered me too. Which makes me think they were inseminated with someone’s sperm.”

Wolf huffs out a breath as he sits on the edge of the other bed. Steepling his fingers, he says, “Yeah, our father’s sperm. Whoever the son of a bitch is.”

Scotch folds his arm as he leans a shoulder against the wall. “The only way to know will be a DNA test.”

Sign me up. I want to know. Even though in my heart now, I can’t deny that this man looks like a brother. “Where can we get one?”

“I’ll make some calls and find out.”

Wolf says, “Now onto the other bizarre part of this, I understand we are being hunted and the bounty is quite large.”

I push my hair back. “Yes, gigantic, actually. Two mil. And if it was above table, something honest, I think a private investigative firm would be doing the looking. Pavel, the man who was trying to capture me, he said it was for my return to someone who owns me.”

When Wolf’s face morphs into anger, I see so much of myself in him. “Owns you? That’s unbelievable.”

Mako tips his chin toward his laptop. “Pavel said that they are using the same language in the ad for returning you, Wolf. That he owns you.”

Wolf’s face reddens, and a vein lifts on his forehead. His laugh is short, dark, and dangerous-sounding as his fingers ball into fists. “If someone thinks they’re going to capture me and force me into something I don’t want, they have another thing coming. I’ll rip their bloody limbs off.”

This brightens my day. A whole lot.

I’m not the only one who feels this way. “I like you already. So, you’ve got skills?”

His eyes cut to mine. “I’m in the SAS. I do it all, bombs, guns, choppers, mountaineering, intel.”

I tilt my head toward him, “I guess that’s a start.”

For the first time, he smiles. It’s broad and genuine. And I feel my heart expand. A brother.

Wow, I never imagined something like this could happen.

The sensation is almost overwhelming.

“It’s nice to meet you, Simona,” he says, extending his hand.

I accept, but quickly find myself hugging his muscular torso. “I’ve just got this sensation that my life makes a whole lot more sense, even if it doesn’t.”

He ruffles my hair. “Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m nothing like my parents.” He steps back and motions toward Scotch. “Now, why don’t you introduce me to your fellow there before he cuts me down with those murderous glares.”

I laugh, “Oh! Yeah, him. He’s a bit overprotective.”

Scotch pushes off the wall. “I am. You would be too if she was your woman and was carrying your child.”

I’m so flabbergasted that my mouth has to look like a fish gulping for water. “Scotch!” As my face heats, I say, “We haven’t told anyone yet. We just found out.”

Mako snorts and tries to cover his sound of disbelief with a cough.

Scotch pulls me to his side, extends his hand. “I’m Jameson Scott, call me Scotch if you want.”
