“Just be patient.”

“I have been for an hour. You’ve driven all over.”

“Have I?”

At the end of the road, a small patch of grass has been cut in the middle of a field. “What’s that?’

“Oh, nothing.”

I turn the truck off.

“What are we doing?”

“Waiting.”

She groans and throws her head back against the headrest. “You’re a handful.”

I chuckle at this. She often tells me how I’m more than a handful, and more than a mouthful.

I roll down the window. “Hear that?”

Her eyes brighten up. “What is that?”

“You’ll see.”

She watches me with something between curiosity and frustration.

The grass in front of us begins to swirl as the sound of the chopper fills the cab of the truck.

“What in the world?”

“Our ride.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see.”

I hop from the truck and she meets me out front as Larson lowers his private bird to the ground.

We run hand in hand to the chopper. Lifting Simona up, I place her into the back seating area. I climb in beside her. As soon as we are settled, we put on our headsets. “Hello, lovebirds,” Larson says with a grin.

Simona’s smiling really big. “I’m really confused now.”

“Just sit back and relax. Everything is taken care of.”

As we fly across the mountains, I can’t pull my eyes off her. The excitement in her face nearly explodes my heart.

It takes thirty minutes by air to reach the cabin I’ve rented for the wedding. Larson takes us to our destination and begins circling as we planned. “Remember when you told me to put together a wedding because the idea of it was too stressful for you?”

Her lashes fly apart. “You didn’t!”

“I didn’t do it by myself. But it’s done.”

She glances down. “Oh my god, Scotch, right now? You told me to wear a dress, but I didn’t know you meant a wedding dress.”

I lean over and kiss the adorable expression on her sweet, perfect mouth. “Taken care of. I got the one you picked out in the little shop in town. Nolene Strong and Sierra made sure it was all taken care of.”

Her eyes well up with tears. “Oh, Scotch.”
