I don’t know what or who this thing is, but he does have a point. I need to pay attention and think of this as any ops. So I let go of the fact that something is inside of me and pull my attention back to the table before me. I can deal with myself in a moment.

“So it’s located in the seventh level of Hell. What’s the big deal?” Zeke asks, looking at Lucifer.

Lucifer sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, so Astaroth answers the question.

“If it was that easily placed, then we wouldn’t need the Crucible. Anyone would be able to pass through, even the souls that were damned to stay here.”

“Oh. That’s a good point,” Moni nods. “So how do we get to it?”

It’s almost comical as L.A.M.B. shares looks back and forth and Lilith fidgets against the table.

It still blows my mind how much she’s changed since we came to Hell. Before, she wouldn’t have been caught fidgeting or showing any emotion, but here, within a few days, I’ve seen her flying off the handle to having emotional breakdowns. It almost makes you wonder which side is real. Is she just healing from being possessed, or is this how she is normally?

“Here, can I see that?” Rez motions for the book that Lynx is holding and flips it open. A sheet of paper comes flying out of the book and lands on the table.

“What is it?” Knots asks as Lucifer turns it around at different angles.

“How old are your books that they are falling apart before we even open them?” Lynx asks Lilith. She arches an eyebrow in his direction.

“Most of my books were around before many civilizations fell and you were just a tingle in your great great great grandfather’s ancestor’s ballsack.” She smiles sweetly and Lynx gulps, holding his prize possessions in his hand.

“Good to know,” he replies.

“I think it’s a map,” Rez says as she looks down at the book. “Is this the same illustration that was in the gray book?” she asks, and Lucifer shakes his head but doesn’t open the cover to show all of us. Hmm. I wonder what that’s about. Rez taps the map, bringing my attention back to her. “According to this—if I’m reading it correctly—there’s a pathway that leads to that portal.” She peers up before looking back at the paper.

Yeah, there are pathways on it, but I can’t make heads or tails of the landmarks on the paper.

“See this door right here in the corner?” She points to a door that has Hgmnb ez Eghr scrolled above it. “It says Trail of Worth, and that’s here in the book, but I don’t know what all of this stuff is to get there.”

Levi strains his neck to look at it from his position. “May I?”

“Of course,” Lucifer says and allows Levi to look at it. Ryker slides up next to him and they both study the map.

“Doesn’t that figure right there look familiar to you?” Levi asks Ry as he points at a figure right off to the left-hand side.

“Oh shit! Yeah. That’s the booby lady,” Ryker calls out and slaps the table.

“Booby lady?” Lynx asks, raising an intrigued brow.

Ryker laughs. “Yeah. When Levi and I were kids and we came down here, sometimes we had spare time on our hands, so we would explore the grounds at… Mom’s,” he says, smiling at Lilith. “There’s this statue at the corner by the fence that Levi and I said looked like a naked lady.”

“Matilda,” Lilith sneers. “She is a naked lady.”

“What?” Ryker snaps his head in her direction as he’s taken aback.

“She was a personal assistant of mine until I found her trying to… persuade… my men.”

“She was coming onto them,” Lucifer explains.

“Oh,” Levi and Ryker both exclaim and clear their throats.

“Well, the point is. If that’s… Matilda?” Levi questions, and Lilith smiles sweetly. “Then this tunnel, I’m assuming, is somewhere attached to your house, Mom. That’s the tunnel that leads to the Trail of Worth.”

“And if that tunnel is at Mom’s, that means you guys have a tunnel here somewhere that leads to Mom’s. It’s like an underground roadway. But of course, we can just go over to Mom’s tomorrow and search for it,” Ryker says with a fist pump.

“Yes! We don’t have to be here forever!” Lynx does a little shuffle, and Rez laughs.

“Shit, I had forgot about our safety tunnel. Lucy, when did we have those built?” Lilith asks.
