Chapter Six

AUBREY

I can’t believe I agreed to this, but I’d do anything to make Ledger and Nash happy. If this is what they need as alphas, then who am I to stand in their way? I want an omega too, but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a part of me that’s a bit worried about this Willow woman.

Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m hot and a catch, but I’m also just a beta. I can never give the guys what their inner alphas truly yearn for. It’s something I’ve grown used to because, well, again, I know I’m a beta and I don’t really have a choice, but sometimes those ‘why am I not enough’ thoughts creep in.

I did however threaten them that if they found some sexy, slick-dripping, knot-suffocator omega and left me in the dust, I’d crush their balls with my heels. There’s not a doubt in my mind that they would ever do that, but I’ve never seen them as worked up as they are right now over anyone other than me. This omega better be one hell of a woman.

We sit in the cafeteria at table four, just waiting for our assigned meet and greet today. Since we applied last minute, we got the call this morning asking if we wanted to meet with an omega. Of course, Nash said yes. He tried to get Dean Benson to tell him if it was Willow or not, but she wouldn’t confirm one way or another, of course. She did however make sure to double-check that we are on board with the temporary pack thing and not looking to settle down right away. So that’s a good sign, right?

The answer was once again a resounding yes. While other packs just see a sexy and sweet-smelling omega and are ready to shack up and pop out babies, that isn’t us. We want to make sure she fits with us, that she accepts us for…well, us. We are a pack of mismatched puzzle pieces, and we’re looking for that missing link to make the picture complete.

Nash and Ledger are cracking jokes and talking about some game they played last night, but I ignore them. I don’t understand their obsession with video games, just like they don’t understand why I love being ‘popular’ on Chattergram. Having a ton of followers is like having a ton of people think I’m cool, pretty, and everything my family never told me or wanted me to be. It’s healing a piece of me I didn’t know I needed to be healed.

Just as I’m about to tell the guys that I think we’ve been stood up, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and a chill races through my body. I search the cafeteria to see who’s made me react in such a way when my stare gets stuck on the sexiest girl I’ve ever seen. She’s short like me, with deep brown hair, icy blue eyes like the butterfly’s wings I used to catch as a child, and puffy lips I want all over my body.

I watch as she stands in the cafeteria, looking like she’s searching for something or someone. Please, let this be Willow. I doubt it is because no way in hell is someone who looks like her going to be interested in a pack like us. But a bitch can dream, and tonight my dreams will be filled with naughty scenes of me devouring this stunning creature.

Her eyes flick to mine and we stare at each other, neither one of us wanting to break the spell that’s been cast between the two of us. One foot in front of the other, she walks my way, and I feel like my heart is going to beat out of my chest as my core burns with desire.

Then my little butterfly stops right in front of our table, holding eye contact with me as she parts those pretty lips and speaks. “Hi, I’m Willow.”

Oh, fuck.

I’m done for. This woman owns me completely and I’ve only known she existed for the past few days. Now, I know why Nash was so set on joining the program. He was right, she is stunning. I owe him the biggest thank-you blow job ever.

“Hey Willow, I’m Aubrey,” I tell her, motioning for her to sit.

“I know,” she whispers, a small adorable smile forming on her tempting lips.

I raise a brow in question. “How?”

“I told her,” Nash announces, finally realizing we aren’t alone at the table. “When I helped Willow here with her tire, I told her I had a boyfriend named Ledger and a girlfriend named Aubrey.”

I look at Willow to see she’s blushing as she looks at Nash while he speaks. Every so often she licks her lips, and I know she’s drawn to him, which isn’t surprising. Nash has that edgy, dark soul look to him. His black hair and bright eyes are a beautiful contrast, his all-black wardrobe adds to his mysteriousness.

“Hi, Nash.” Her cheeks pinken even more.

“Hey, Weasel. Long time no see.”

Her nose scrunches and she tilts her head to the side just the slightest bit.

“Weasel? Like the long rodent rat thing?”

“It is. It’s also a character from my favorite book and film. Taught me that a good pack can overcome anything. Also, I do believe when we met a few days ago you asked if I was a serial killer. So, maybe I am, but you just so happened to weasel your way into my good graces and got to live,” he jokes with her teasingly, and I roll my eyes at his words. Can he be any more cheesy?

“Woooow,” Ledger draws out the word. “Way to lay it on thick. Do you want some crackers for that cheesy shit?”

A giggle bursts from me, and I quickly slap a hand over my mouth. “Ignore them. They’re always bickering and acting like fools.”

“I’m not one to judge. I’m a bit of an oddball myself.” She smiles at me, then turns to look at Nash. “But I don’t like Weasel, so we’ll have to work on nicknames later.” Ledger laughs at her words, slapping Nash on the back.

“Later, huh? Does that mean you're interested in us courting you?” I ask, my teeth nibbling on my bottom lip.

“Well, ummm... I’m hoping so?” she stutters, and it’s fucking adorable.

“Aubrey, you made her nervous,” Nash scolds me playfully, then looks to Willow. “Don’t worry, pretty girl, we don’t bite. How about you tell us what you’re thinking.” Ledger smiles.
