I feel sluggish from all the crying I did today as I drag myself upstairs and shower. Once I’m in my pajamas and snuggled up in my old nest, I feel an overwhelming cramp take over. “No,” I whisper. Just when I thought I was all cried out, I prove myself wrong as tears spring to my eyes. “Not now,” I sob into my blanket. I’ve come all this way to see my brother, and now my heat is starting before I’ve gotten a chance to visit him. The realization hits me like a punch to the gut—I thought I had a few more days.

Thankfully, the cramping dissipates a few minutes later and I manage to fall asleep. Hopefully, it’s just the early stage, and I can see my brother before I start my full-blown heat.

I’m just pissed that I can’t have Aubrey and the guys with me for my first heat. But I’ll survive, and they will be there for next time.

I just need to make it through this one first.

Chapter Thirteen

DANE

“Dane, you can’t be serious right now,” Chandler says with a heavy sigh, stepping in front of me as I go to open the front door.

“Like hell, I can’t,” I growl at my mate. “I told you, she’s not going to flaunt her body online for all those fucking alphas to sit at home and jerk off to.”

He narrows his eyes at me. Chandler might be on the softer side, but when he wants to, he can be pretty damn intimidating. “There is so much wrong with your plan. I know you're upset, I am too. But you can’t just drive to Calling Wood and fucking kidnap her! She doesn’t even know we’re her alphas. She hasn’t even seen or talked to us in years. Do you think she’s going to just go willingly? No.”

“Then I’ll toss her over my fucking shoulder and drag her back home.”

“Alright, Mr. Caveman. And what are you going to tell the police when they show up at our door?” He crosses his arms, raising a brow.

“I’ll deal with it when it comes to that.”

After seeing Willow’s little show online, along with thousands of other people, I spent the next few days getting things in order at work and preparing to take a few days off so that I could drive down to Calling Wood and get my omega. I’m done playing it Tony’s way. Willow is our mate, and she’s twenty-one now. The age thing isn’t as bad as it was back when we found out about her being our scent match.

“You're not thinking rationally right now.”

“Why are you not more upset about this?” I toss my hands up in the air, getting fucking annoyed with the love of my life. “She’s our fucking omega. She should be with us, not at that school fucking random packs. Don’t you agree? Don’t you want her too?”

He flinches back as if I slapped him, looking hurt. “Of course, I want her, Dane. But I also know it’s not as easy as showing up at her doorstep and saying, ‘Hey, guess what? We’re your scent-matched alphas. We’ve known for three years, but we kept it from you because your dad told us to. And we thought at the time we were too old for you, but hey, we changed our minds and now we want you. Come on home with us now.” He shakes his head. “Dane, please. How about we try talking to her? Maybe friend her on social media and build something before throwing this bomb at her.”

I shake my head. “No, we’ve wasted enough time. I need her, Chandler. I’ve had this empty hole in my heart since we found out about her.” My chest heaves, a dull ache where my heart is, that never really goes away.

He’s about to argue with me when my phone starts to ring. My brows furrow, and I grab my phone out of my back pocket, looking at the caller ID. “It’s Randy.” Randy is one of Tony’s pack mates.

“Why do you think he’s calling?” Chandler asks. It’s been years since we talked to him or any of their pack apart from Tony.

“Only one way to find out.” I press answer and bring the phone to my ear. “Hello?”

“Dane, thank god you answered,” Randy sighs heavily.

“Is everything okay?” I look over at Chandler with furrowed brows.

He breathes out a shaky breath. “There was an accident.”

My heart beats erratically, my mind going straight to Willow. “Is Willow okay?” I ask a little too forcefully.

“Yes, she’s fine. It’s Wesley.”

“Is he okay?”

“No.” His voice cracks. “He got into an accident. It’s touch and go here, and we’re all a mess. Willow came back to the house last night, and she was supposed to come over and visit an hour ago, but none of us can get a hold of her. We don’t want to leave, not until he’s stable again. Could you please go over and check on Willow?”

“Yeah, yeah, of course.” I run a hand through my hair, worry filling me.

“Thanks, man. Just call me back when you check on her.”

“Yeah, for sure. And Randy… Wesley is going to be okay.”
