“We need to tell Tony. We can’t just ghost him and let him think that twenty-one years of loyalty and friendship meant nothing to us. And he would ask questions we would need to lie to answer.”

Dread fills me. This is a nightmare, one that I would like to wake up from now.

“He’s going to kill us,” I tell him.

“It’s not our fault. This is how things go. You're walking down the street and then boom, you smell an omega and now you're locked in for life.”

“Not us. Because this can never happen. Ever. We’re twenty-four years older than her. That’s so fucked up.”

“I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m just saying we had no choice. He can’t blame us.”

I snort out a laugh. “Yeah, this is going to go well. Hey, bestie, sorry to tell you, but my man and I are mated to your eighteen-year-old daughter. While we have no attraction to her, our dicks sure do. Would you care if we fucked and knotted her?” Just the idea makes me cringe.

Willow is a beautiful woman, don’t get me wrong. And we’ve been with younger women before, but never this young and never someone related to our friends.

“Dane,” Chandler growls. “Enough.”

“Let's just go inside and give ourselves some time to wrap our heads around this whole mess. Maybe when we wake up tomorrow, this will all be a dream.”

“One can only hope.”

Chapter Two

CHANDLER

We haven’t seen our friends in weeks, spending all our time either at home together or at work. Which is saying something since with our jobs we can work from anywhere. We still haven’t totally wrapped our heads around the fact that we have an omega and that she’s Willow. Our Willow; the little dark-haired girl we celebrated being born, the girl we’ve never missed a birthday party for.

Now, all I can see or think about when I say her name aloud or in my head is her sitting on my lap riding my knot while Dane eats her sweet little pussy. It’s wrong, and I feel gross, but I can’t stop, it’s a normal alpha’s reaction to finding their scent match.

My phone rings through the car speakers, snapping me out of the live-action porn I was playing out in my head. Clicking the answer button on the steering wheel, I greet whoever is on the other line. “Hello.”

“Baby, it’s me. Where are you at?” Dane asks, and my grip on the steering wheel tightens at the tenseness in his voice.

“On my way home from work; I should be there in like ten minutes. What’s up?”

“Well, Tony stopped over wanting to figure out why we haven’t been by or answered any of the texts in our group chat. He was worried, so he decided to check on us in person.” I can hear the underlying message in Dane’s words and his tone.

Fuck. I guess it’s time to come clean and tell our best friend, the guy who has been our brother for the last two decades, that his perfect little angel is our omega.

“Okay, I’ll be there soon, and then we can talk.”

“Love you,” he sighs.

“Babe!” I call. He doesn’t say anything, but I know he’s still on the line. “We need to tell him and let the cards fall where they may. We can’t keep avoiding them.”

“See you soon,” is all he says in return.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I bang on the steering wheel. This is not how I wanted this to play out.

Sure enough, ten minutes later, I pull into our garage with my heart beating out of my chest. There’s no way this is going to go well. But it’s time to man up and tell Tony everything.

As I enter the house from the garage, I toss my keys on the little table by the door and head further into our home. “Dane? Tony? I’m home. Where are you guys?”

“Here, babe,” Dane says as he steps back into the house from the backyard. “Sorry, I was showing Tony the new patio furniture we got last week. Grab us some beers and we’ll meet you in the living room, ya?”

I nod my head and make my way to the kitchen. My feet feel like two cement blocks as I drag my ass to the fridge, open it, and pull out three beers.

I blow out a breath and stop in the hallway, looking at my reflection in a picture of us with Tony’s family from a trip we took together years ago. You can do this, Chandler. You’re a grown-ass alpha, and you can tell your friend you’re matched to his daughter. He knows it’s not something you can control. We already agreed to stay away from her and just be the two of us. So he can be assured we don’t plan on moving forward with making her pack.
