“What was hot?” My brows furrow.

“Watching you eat.” Chandler laughs. “Nothing sexier than a woman who loves to eat.”

“Really?” I narrow my eyes in suspicion.

“Oh yeah.” Chandler nods, then leans in as if he’s about to tell me some top-secret information. “Dane here loves to cook. And I know he’s imagining you making those sexy little moans when you eat something he makes for you.”

My eyes snap over to Dane, a dark, hungry look taking over his face. My body flushes and I clamp my thighs shut.

But I wasn’t fast enough, he’s gotten a smell of my slick.

His nostrils flare, a low rumbling growl sounding in his chest and that has me swallowing down a whimper.

“How about we go for a walk on the beach? Get some fresh air?” Chandler suggests.

I swallow hard and nod my head. “Yeah, that sounds good.”

Chandler, the gentleman he is, pulls out my chair for me and I stand. Dane pays for the bill on our way out, while Chandler and I wait outside.

Once Dane joins us, we head down a path next to the restaurant that leads to the beach. The sun is starting to set, the breeze is soft and warm. I smile as I look out at the waves, the sky is so beautiful right now.

I stop where the water meets the sand, taking my shoes off so I can feel the cool water on my feet.

“How are you doing?” Chandler asks me, standing close but careful not to touch me.

“Surprisingly, good.” I smile, then let it fall, biting my lower lip. “Would you hate me if I felt bad about it? About enjoying my time with you two?”

His face softens and he shakes his head. “One, we could never hate you, Willow. And two, it’s okay to feel that way. This, all of this, it’s new and different. It’s not how the majority of people join packs and that's okay. Normal is boring anyways.” He winks, making me laugh. “We don’t expect you to just be onboard with all of this. That goes for your pack and us as well. I know Dane has been a little over the top.”

“A little.” I grin.

“Okay, very over the top.” Chandler chuckles. “But he doesn’t mean any harm by it. He wants you, Willow. We both do. It’s a lot for us to adjust to also. We saw you as our best friend's daughter for years. Then you became a woman. We got a hit of your scent and we knew we were fucked. At the time, not in a good way.” He chuckles awkwardly. “We didn’t know what to do. You were only eighteen. We were in our forties.”

“We spent years pining after someone we couldn’t have.” Dane adds in, coming to stand at my other side. “We knew it was wrong, but the funny thing about alphas, especially when it comes to their scent match, is we can’t help what we want. What we crave. And we craved you, Willow. We tried not to but that just wasn’t a possibility. When we came to the house that day, we tried to hold back, but it was like everything finally clicked into place. I’m not sorry for the time we spent together because it was some of the best fucking moments of my life. Being able to care for you the way you needed, it made me feel whole. Touching you, tasting you, having you, ended me. It was everything.” He turns to me and I look up at his handsome face, heart pounding in my chest as I do. “I am sorry for biting you. I should have had more restraint. I should have waited until you were ready. I feel like shit because I took that choice away from you. I’m not making excuses for myself, but I think a lot of it had to do with the fear of losing you again. We had you, finally had you in our arms and when you begged me to bite you, I felt like if I didn’t, you would drift away and all of this would have been over.”

I didn’t know tears were falling down my cheeks until Dane reaches up and brushes them away.

I don’t say anything, letting everything he says sink in, nodding my head and holding out my hand. He looks at it with a surprised look and takes it hesitantly.

His large, calloused hand engulfs mine, sending a tingly feeling through my body.

I smile to myself and hold out my other hand for Chandler. He takes it, a sweet smile on his face.

We walk in silence on the beach, just enjoying each other's company until the sun sets.

They drive me back to my house, this time Dane opening my door for me. “Thanks. For everything,” I tell them as Chandler comes around the car over to us. “I had a good time.”

“Can we do this again? Spend time with you?” Chandler asks hopefully.

“I’d like that.” I smile. “But, it can’t always be just the three of us.” I look toward the door, where Aubrey is now standing on the porch. “They are my pack. My lovers. While I don’t expect you two to be in any sort of physical or romantic relationship with them, I don’t want what we build to be a separate life from what I have with them.”

“Then we get to know them too.” Chandler looks over at Dane. “We could use some friends, right?”

“Sure,” he mutters and I giggle. At least it’s something.

They walk me to the front steps, bringing me right to my girlfriend.

“Treat my girl good?” she asks them, crossing her arms and raising her brow.
