“I’m staying the hell home. I’ll keep our alpha’s knot warm while you two are gone playing house,” Aubrey adds.

“Who’s leaving and why is my knot cold?” Nash asks as he returns with my plate and sits down.

“Ledger’s mom called and they’re going to dinner Friday. I’m staying home with you. Wanna play knotty beta while they’re gone?” She wiggles her brows at him.

“Well, I’m sure as hell not gonna go see Patricia.” He curls his lips and I wish I was staying home with them, instead, Willow has suckered me into dinner at Satan’s house.

Pulling into my parent’s driveway, I park in front of the house in a spot where we can make a quick getaway. I know Patricia offered to send a car but that would mean I couldn’t make a quick escape if needed. This isn’t my first rodeo so I know I’ll be leaving this hellhole early. I’m only here because Willow begged and…well…I can’t tell my omega no.

I get out of the car and hurry to Willow’s door, opening it and helping her out.

“Thanks, Ledger,” she hums.

Between her sweet voice and the way she looks tonight, it’s taking everything in my power to not say fuck this dinner and bend her over the hood of my Mustang.

I wish I had taken a picture of her face when I pulled up to our house in my car. We don’t use them often since on campus we drive the golf cart everywhere and if we go anywhere else we take Nash’s car.

She had so many questions about where I keep the car, and why didn’t I tell her I owned such a sweet ride. I quickly told her I kept it parked in storage and that it was my high school graduation present from my parents. The questions ended there until she smirked wickedly at me and asked if she could drive it and if I’d fuck her on it. Both are happening once we leave here so this dinner needs to be quick and easy.

She stands and straightens her plum-colored dress that fits her body like a glove. It’s off the shoulder and has a slit up the left side, revealing her creamy thigh. The velvet is smooth against my skin as I pull her close and we walk hand in hand up to the front door.

“Don’t let anything you hear in here affect you, Blowpop. These people are rude, arrogant, and hateful. They think money makes them better than everyone else and I promise you that’s not true.”

“You worry too much, Ledger.” Even in her heels, she has to stand on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek. “We got this.”

The door opens and Rutherford reveals himself. “Good evening, Mister Ledger. Your parents and brothers are in the dining room waiting for you.”

We step inside and wait for Rutherford to close the door before he escorts us to the dining room.

I keep Willow’s hand in mine because I can’t believe I let her talk me into this. They’re going to eat up my sweet Willow and spit her out, and I don’t want her to have to endure it.

“Ledger. How nice of you to finally join us. We thought you were standing us up again,” my mother coos as we step through the dining room door. She stands up and her blonde hair is tightly pinned to her head and she has way too much makeup on.

“You said six, Mother it’s five till.” I clench my teeth because we’ve already started this shit show.

“Son, you know if you’re not fifteen early…you’re late,” my dad adds.

“Or I could be five minutes early still.” I roll my eyes and lead Willow to two empty chairs seated side by side. Like a gentleman, I pull out her chair and let her sit before pushing her in and taking the seat next to her.

“Thank you, Ledger.”

“And who is this?” My brother, Keith, licks his lips as he stares at Willow.

I roll my eyes at his pervy behavior, but it’s Keith so can we really blame him? He’s lived under my parents’ thumb for so long that I don’t think he knows how to act around females…or well, anyone he thinks is attractive.

“Willow, this is my middle brother, Keith. Next to him is my mother, Patricia, then my oldest brother, Jameson, and who I’m assuming is his omega. And my father, Patrick, is at the other end of the table. Everyone, this is Willow.”

“Nice to meet all of you. I’m glad Ledger brought me to meet his family.” Willow smiles before taking her napkin and setting it in her lap.

“Ledger, I thought I asked you not to bring any riff-raff from the school home with you? This dinner is for us to meet Jameson’s omega before he bonds. Have you lost all manners attending that cesspool of a school?”

Willow doesn’t blink or show any reaction to being called riff-raff but my blood is boiling; how fucking dare this bitch call my omega riff-raff. She is a queen that I consider myself lucky to be bonded to. “Well, Mother, I just thought that since this dinner was for us to meet Jameson’s omega before they bond, it was only right that I bring home mine.”

Her salad fork clatters to the plate. “You brought another omega into our home? What if she causes your brother’s omega issues? Also, she can’t be your omega, we haven’t met her or know what stock she comes from. If you met her at that school, she can’t be from a good family.”

I open my mouth to reply, but Willow beats me to it.

“With all due respect, Patricia. You don’t know me at all, nor the stock I come from.” She air quotes around the last part. “I have a good family who’ve worked hard for everything they have. It’s not up to you whom your child or children bond with. It’s a little too late to worry about Ledger and me. We’re bonded. I have the marks to prove it.” She pulls her hair to the side, revealing her left ear where my bite sits.
