“Ledger! You’re bonded! We didn’t approve of this, nor did you tell us. How long has this been a thing?” my mother squeals.

“You’ve done it now, little bro,” Keith chuckles.

“He doesn’t need your approval to mark someone. This is not the fifties when parents helped choose your mates. He’s an adult and we chose each other along with the other members of our pack.”

My cock has never been harder than it is right now. Willow standing up to my mother and not taking her shit but giving it back to her. No one has ever defended me from them. Nash and Aubrey always stayed quiet at my request but Willow, I knew, wouldn’t want me telling her how to behave so I didn’t ask the same of her.

“Young lady, I don’t know who told you that you can speak to adults like this, but it’s extremely rude,” my father finally inputs.

Willow turns to look at him. “That would be the loving parents I came from. I was taught to not let others define my worth and I’m sure the hell not going to let the two of you define mine or take a shot at Ledger’s. He’s an amazing alpha and person. Not quite sure how that happened with you two as his parents, but I guess miracles do happen.” She then turns to look at the other omega in the room. “I don’t know you, babe, but if I were you, I’d think good and hard about what it means to be mated with Jameson. Now, I don’t know him at all, but if he’s anything or will be anything like these two? I’d leave and not look back. Unless you wanna be a pretty porcelain dolly who can’t have her own thoughts or opinions.”

The girl looks at Jameson, a panicked worried look on her face. I’ve been getting the vibe that she didn’t want to be here at all tonight. With shaky hands, she puts her napkin on the table. “I can’t do this. I’m so sorry. I like you, but I want more than this for my life. My parents pressured me to come here tonight, to pursue more with you. To be a part of this family. I can’t. I just can’t do it.” She looks toward my parents. “You're not good people. If this is how you talk to your son's omega, I wouldn’t want to know what you would say about me behind my back, let alone to my face.” I gape in surprise as she stands and heads toward the door.

“Vera, wait!” Jameson shouts after her but doesn’t leave his chair.

And then my omega, my amazing omega keeps surprising me. “Jameson,” Willow calls. “If you really like that woman, figure out how to be your own man like your brother here did. Stop relying on mommy and daddy to make or approve of your choices. Then you call her, no better yet, you show it, prove it to her.”

My brother curls his lip before getting up from the table, throwing his napkin down, and jogging after Vera.

I push away from the table and help Willow up. “Well, mother, father. It’s been a joy as always. We’ll be leaving now. Don’t call. Oh, and just so we’re on the same page, Willow is bonded to Nash and Aubrey as well. She also has two scent matched alphas she’ll be bonding with. We don’t need you nor want your input. And if you talk about my omega and my pack like that again, I won’t be so forgiving. You think they’re trash? Try looking in a mirror. Money can’t hide a rotten heart.”

I take Willow’s hand and we leave the dining room, making our way to the front door and into the crisp evening air.

Willow spins around to face me, a guilty look on her pretty face. “I am so sorry,” she tells me. “You didn’t want to come tonight and I put my foot in my mouth. I pressured you to anyway. You know your parents better than me and I didn’t listen. I’m so sorry, babe. I just wanted them to see how amazing you are. How happy you are. That maybe, if they saw you had an omega, they would stop being raging assholes. Clearly, after whatever that was, I was wrong. And if you want nothing to do with these people again, I stand by you.”

I smile, pulling my omega into my arms. “It’s alright, babe. I’m not mad. And a part of me wondered if they saw me with you, maybe they would stop seeing me as the family disappointment. But after how they talked to you? I couldn’t care less about their approval. I don’t need them. I have you, Aubrey, and Nash. You're the only family I need.”

Her eyes fill with tears and she gives me a watery smile. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Blowpop,” I growl, pulling her in for a kiss. I don’t know what it is, but there's something about having the people I love in my arms, lips on mine, that settles the war within me. A soothing balm to my soul.

We look over to see Vera standing at the bottom of the stairs, arguing with my brother. I almost feel bad at the look on his face. I think he might really like this girl. But if he stays under my parents’ thumb, I don’t think he’s going to be able to keep her.

We wait until my brother storms off, gets in his car, and peels down the driveway. “Do you need a ride?” Willow asks the omega standing on the steps with her phone in hand.

She looks up and gives Willow a kind smile. “That would be amazing. I can’t get an Uber out here. I’m Vera by the way.”

“Willow. Come on, we’ll drop you off.”

Pride grows in my chest at how amazing my omega is. She loves and cares so hard. Some might call it a weakness, but I don’t. It’s fucking sexy.

I lead the way to my car and Willow climbs in the backseat, allowing Vera to sit in the front.

“Where to?” I ask when I get behind the wheel.

“I think I’ll go to Calling Wood with you, if that’s alright? I was supposed to go last year but didn’t because of your brother. It’s time to do something for me now. I’ll have to go back home at some point for some clothes, but I’ll worry about that later.”

“Whatever you need, I know my pack and I will be more than willing to help,” Willow tells her.

She gives Willow a grateful smile. “Thank you.”

“Perfect, to Calling Wood it is.” I hit the gas, peeling out of my parents’ driveway, the tires spinning.

Chapter Thirty-Three

AUBREY

“I can’t function in the morning until I have my Beta Blast. Just put a scoop in a cup, mix with water, and done.” I take a sip of my drink and hum. “Delicious and easy. Click the link at the bottom of this post to get yours.” I wink at the camera and then click the remote in my pocket to stop recording.
