“How are you doing?” he asks.

I look over at him, unable to help the shy smile. He’s so damn sweet and I can’t help but feel like a giddy school girl around him. Dane drives me mad and pushes my buttons, but the sexual tension is off the charts. That doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten how he’s behaved.

Chandler makes me swoon. He’s so kind, patient, and understanding.

“I’m doing good, for the most part.” I sigh. “Still stressed. With everything up in the air, between…us. I just–” I shrug. “Can’t turn my mind off.” I lean my head against the couch. “And it’s affecting me more than I’d like.”

His brows pinch with concern. “How so?”

I lick my lips, wondering if I should tell them. I know I should, they’re my alphas. I have to open up and let them in at some point.

“I should have started my heat a few days ago.”

“You're late. Are you pregnant?”

I shake my head. “No. The doctors said it’s stress. But I was also put on a low dose of suppressant.”

“Why would you want to push your heat back even more?” he asks genuinely.

“Really?” A small smile touches my lips. “Couldn’t think of any reason why I wouldn’t want my heat right now?”

“No?” He’s so cute and clueless.

Laughing, I shake my head. “My last heat took everyone by surprise. None of us were ready for that. And while what I can remember was amazing, I don’t want to go into heat and spend it with people I don’t know. Not again.”

“Oh.” His face falls.

“So that's why I want to wait, spend some more time with you and Dane before I go into heat. Even with my pack. That way, when I go into heat, there’s less of a chance for bloodshed.”

His eyes widen slightly. “You want us to be a part of your next heat?”

“Well, I kinda have to.” I giggle. “I’ll die if I don’t.”

“Right.” He nods.

“But I also want you two there.”

“Really?” Dane asks. I look over at him, sitting back in his chair, watching the two of us.

“Yes.” I narrow my eyes at him. “If you can continue to be a good boy.”

He growls in warning but it doesn’t scare me. No, my body lights up, eager to go over there and straddle his lap.

A wave of perfume fills the air, but I do my best to pretend it didn’t.

“I’ve been a very good boy.” He chuckles. “Haven’t I, Chandler?”

Chandler chuckles. “Yes, he’s been doing his best to behave.”

“If Chandler is a good boy, will you let him mark you? He’s the only one who hasn’t left a pretty little mark on you.”

My eyes snap over to Chandler and guilt hits me hard.

“Hey.” He surprises me as he reaches over and pulls me into his lap. I go willingly, loving the feeling of his hand on mine. “Don’t even think about it, okay? I’ll wait to make you mine as long as it takes. You're worth it, Willow. I’d wait a thousand years.”

“Chandler,” I whisper, my heart swelling at his words. I know that if things happened differently, I’d probably already be with them by now, a part of my pack.

That's how sure I am about these two. The more time I spend with them, the more I know that having them be my alphas is the right thing. I’m just not ready to take that step just yet. I need more time.
