“Me either. Well, except for when my mother was here.”

“You and Adele never lived together?”

“No, thank God. I never even thought about it. It should have been my first clue that we weren’t meant to be. I wasn’t interested in spending as much time as possible with her. On the other hand, I never want to be away from you.”

She’s quiet as she thinks about what I’ve said, and then she frowns.

“Talk to me.” I reach up and cup her cheek, loving how her skin feels.

Her eyes find mine. “I don’t know why I thought you lived together in Charlotte. But whatever.” She shakes her head just a little, and my hand drops to her lap. “I guess I just feel strange. No one has ever wanted me like you do, and I’m trying to process this.”

I can’t help the smile that creeps onto my face, and she rolls her eyes. Of course I want her badly, all the time, but I know that’s not what she’s talking about.

“I think I’m still adjusting getting used to you loving me. Sometimes you say things like this, and I’m surprised. Not in a bad way. I just wasn’t expecting it.”

“Good thing I’m not going anywhere,” I tell her as my hand spreads over her thigh, and my thumb swipes back and forth.

“So what do you say? Want to move in with me?” I ask softer this time and I realize I’m nervous for her answer. It’s one thing for her to laugh when I propose, it’s another for her to say no to this.

“What will I do with my house?” Her hand slides up over my arm and wraps around my shoulders.

“How do you feel about selling it?”

She pulls back, and two little lines drop between her eyes. “Why? Do you know someone who wants to buy it?”

“I think for the right price, your house would be Cole and Amelia’s dream house.”

“Really?” Her brows pop up in a way that tells me she doesn’t hate this idea.

“Yeah, he used to go over and wander the property when it was still vacant. He never said anything, but I knew. There was some heartbreak on his face when the sign came down, notifying us that it had been sold.”

“Why didn’t they buy it?”

“All of this happened right when he and Amelia were getting married. I imagine it was a money thing.”

“And you think they can afford it now?”

I shrug my shoulders.

“I think we could work something out with them if that’s what you want to do. It’s your house. Your decision.”

She thinks about this. Her eyes sparkle, and a smile tips her perfect lips.

“It is fun to know your neighbor,” she says while looking at me mischievously and flirty at the same time.

I chuckle at her brazenness.

“Damn straight, it’s fun,” I tell her as I flip her onto her back and hover over her. My hips settle between hers. She’s warm, she’s perfect, and she doesn’t have to do anything other than breathe to turn me on.

“So what do you say?” I ask her again while looking into her beautiful eyes. Hell, I’ll ask her a thousand times if I have to. I want her. Forever. “Move in with me.”

“Okay,” she whispers, and my heart soars.

Closing the distance, I seal this deal we’ve made with a kiss.

A long, slow kiss that I’ll never get tired of.

My weight settles on her, and her feet wrap around my legs. One of my hands stays propped next to her head, but my other slides under her T-shirt, or should I say mine, to tug it off. She’s not wearing a bra, and the sight of her topless on my couch has me instantly hard. I drag my teeth to one of her nipples, and her hands thread through my hair. As I bite down, she arches her back and lets out a sound that shoots straight to my groin.
