I immediately berated myself for even thinking about sex in this moment. My whole career, everything I'd done leading up to this moment had been to gain enough momentum, earn a good enough reputation to secure a deal with Harrison Barnes.

Rather than give into my baser needs, I slid my hand in hers, and I was immediately steadied by her presence. She gave me a reassuring smile before glancing back out the window of the town car I’d organized for our trip.

Faith spent the last half hour of the flight putting on her "mask" as she called it. Painting her face in a way that would rival any starlet on the red carpet.

I fucking hated it. It reminded me of when she was untouchable. When she barely spared me a passing glance. When I pretended to ignore the glances she deigned to share with me. We arrived at our destination, and I held the car door open for Faith, helping her exit the vehicle in her sky-high heels.

I wrapped an arm around her waist, enjoying the feel of her curves. She leaned toward me, her lips just inches from my ear. "You better be careful there, mister.”

A lanky man with bronzed skin came and met us at the base of the giant Ferris wheel. “You must be Sebastian Steele and Faith Waters,” he said. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both. I’m Carlos, Mr. Barnes’ executive assistant.” We shook hands and then he pointed behind him. “Your timing is perfect. The private cabin will arrive momentarily.”

We followed behind him, our steps quickening to match his.

“Will anyone else be joining us this evening?” Faith asked, her friendly manner easily disarming our tour guide.

A broad smile crossed his face. “It’s just Harrison and his wife tonight.”

The tightness in my neck eased, grateful Harrison wasn’t springing another surprise on us. I didn’t do well with surprises, and I’d already endured plenty so far.

“And where is Harrison?” Faith asked.

Carlos pointed to the oncoming pod. “He’s already inside. He wanted a private tour with his wife before you all arrived.”

Faith’s eyes widened, and she shot me an amused look. Then to Carlos she said, “Isn’t that the sweetest.”

Just then the cabin arrived at the bottom of the wheel and its door opened. Carlos lifted a hand, “Ma’am.”

Faith stepped forward, careful of her heels as she entered the glass fishbowl that would carry us a hundred feet over the Strip.

I followed behind her, my hand finding her lower back.

“Enjoy.” Carlos waved to us, the door closing at our backs.

I spotted Harrison immediately. The man wore a smoker’s jacket complete with an ascot, and the look was completed by his perfectly combed hair that he’d gelled within an inch of his life.

“Sebastian, it’s good to finally meet you,” he said in his crisp British accent. He crossed the short distance in two steps and shook my hand. Then he glanced at the woman behind him. “This is my wife, Sophie.”

Sophie could have been his daughter, she was that much younger than Harrison. But by the possessive arm around her waist and the background information I’d gathered leading up to this meeting, I knew she was definitely not his daughter. Sophie also stood a whole foot taller than Harrison, yet the man didn’t seem to mind.

Then he greeted Faith. “Faith, it’s lovely to see you again. It’s been years. You’re a grown woman now.”

Faith leaned in, greeting Harrison with a kiss on both cheeks, then did the same with Sophie. “Lovely to see you again, too. And nice to meet you, Sophie. I loved your work for the latest Calvin Klein campaign. Absolutely stunning.”

Sophie moonlit as a model.

Her beauty was undeniable, but it still couldn’t hold a candle to Faith’s.

Harrison made a sweeping gesture. “Please, take a seat.”

Someone had stationed a small table in the center of the pod. A white tablecloth skirted the floor and a small centerpiece of bright orange and red flowers sat in the center.

I pulled a chair back for Faith who shot me a small smile. Her shoulders were drawn back, and I could tell she was ready to engage. As soon as I sat down, Faith squeezed my leg under the table as if to say, I got you.

“I appreciate you meeting with me, Harrison. I know how busy you are,” I started things off, not wanting to waste a minute of his time. “I want to make sure I answer any questions you have about Steele Cyber Security and how I can keep your assets safe.”

Harrison waved me off. "Please, it's much too early in the evening to talk business. Relax, Sebastian. Enjoy a drink. Enjoy the view," he said with a wide sweep of his hand.

We had completely different styles, him and me.
