I blinked. “You are?”

Daisy leaned forward, placing a gentle hand on my knee. “It’s the least we can do.”

“You’ve taken the brunt of the media attention since Dad’s heart attack. It’s not fair for you to bear the burden.”

I tucked a stray piece of hair behind my ear. “I’m the pretty one. It obviously means that I’m an easy target.”

Dominic scoffed and pointed to his chin. “You’re discounting this bone structure.”

“He does resemble a Roman statue,” Daisy agreed.

I rolled my eyes. “Gross.”

Daisy giggled. Dominic puffed his chest.

Beck stepped forward. “I’d recommend you step up your security just in case. There might be some crazy fanatics who want to come out of the woodwork now that the billionaire bachelor is off the market.”

Dominic nodded. “I’m going to need some of your best guys.”

“Best people,” Daisy corrected him.

“Best people,” my brother agreed.

This led to a detour in the conversation. A negotiation between Beck, Dominic, and Sebastian about who was needed and where.

Then Beck glanced at his watch. “I’ve got to get home to relieve the nanny. I’ll message you all later tonight with the plan. I’ll need to call in a few folks and rearrange my team to get the coverage we need.”

I raised my hand. “Tomorrow’s Friday.”

A sea of blank faces stared back at me. Except for Daisy, who nodded along, clearly understanding where I was going with this. “Fridays are art class days. Since we are in the city, I’d like to teach the teen art class at Daisy’s library before we return to the house upstate. Might as well stick around another twenty-four hours.”

“Absolutely not,” Sebastian and Dominic said in stereo.

“Um, I’m sorry, I don’t remember either of you getting to dictate how I spend my time. I’m giving you the courtesy of a heads up. Plan accordingly. Then we need to high tail it out of the city to get back to Sebastian’s. I need Willow kisses and I need to barricade myself in the atrium until I’ve completed all my paintings for the showing.”

Three people stared blankly at me.

“I hope that works for everyone. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get some sleep. Today’s been exhausting.”

I stood up and Daisy followed me to my bathroom, where I proceeded to brush my teeth and get ready for bed. “Do you think they’ll listen to me?”

Daisy leaned against the doorframe to the bathroom. “I don’t think you gave them a choice.”

“Good,” I said, toothpaste spilling out of my mouth. I spit and rinsed. “What do you think I should teach tomorrow?”

“Probably best if you avoid genitals.”

My eyes bulged. “That only happened once. And it was by accident.”

“And I’m sure Sebastian’s mom loved it, but her son seemed scarred. Enough so that he told your brother.”

I dragged a hand down my face and peeked out between my fingers. “No, he didn’t.”

Daisy nodded enthusiastically. “Trust me, he did. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Dominic laugh so hard.”

I launched myself on the bed. “Whelp, it’s just a body part. Maybe we could have someone come and do a sex ed talk and then we can paint our favorite body parts. Make it a whole immersive art and public health experience.”

Daisy shook her head. “Don’t think that’s going to fly, but I love the enthusiasm. Maybe we could do something like that in the future once we clear it with a few folks and get someone who’s actually qualified to talk about sexual health come in.”
