In some ways, Sebastian was the exact same way. He treated me like a normal human being, not some celebrity. Like he saw the real me.

This made two days in a row he tried to help me get out of my head so that I could start painting. The fact that he was taking precious time away from his work was not lost on me.

“How are you so awake right now?” I asked, letting my gaze linger as it trailed his body. He wore his aviator glasses along with a pair of dark denim jeans and a flannel shirt. The flannel had no business looking as good as it did on him. We’d tossed our thicker jackets in the back seat for the short drive. There was no snow on the ground, but it was still freezing cold outside.

“I ran six miles this morning with Willow. Nothing like the fresh air to wake you up.”

He ran already? Seriously, was this guy part machine?

My phone pinged as Sebastian turned onto a main road that housed a number of shops and restaurants.

Daisy

How are things with Sebastian? Call me when you have time to catch up.

I turned my phone away from Sebastian, making sure he couldn’t see the screen. The last thing I needed was for him to see what Daisy was asking.

Daisy

You haven’t called yet, which I’m taking to mean that you are so entrenched in painting that you can’t even step away to text your favorite new friend.

Daisy

Ugh, don’t make me pull a Kiki and drive out to see you. I want updates. The way that man stared at you the other night *fire emoji*. I swear he wanted to peel you out of your clothes. Honestly, I’m glad Dominic didn’t notice. If he had, he probably wouldn’t have been as eager to send you to Sebastian’s house.

I laughed at her and typed out my response.

Faith

I’ll call you tonight.

Daisy

That’s it? That’s all you’re giving me? Fiiiine. But I’m expecting all the details tonight!

Faith

Trust me, you’ll get them. ;)

Daisy

Okay, see that winky face is getting me excited and I don’t want to be excited if there’s nothing to be excited about. Is there something to be excited about?!

Daisy

You’re not going to answer me, are you?

Daisy

I’ll take that as a yes. Well, I gotta go get ready for my senior technology class anyway. I feel like they are getting more rambunctious now that we have good computers. Anyway, call me later!

I chuckled and put my phone away, willing to let her stew on that a bit. Besides, Sebastian was parking the car, so it wasn’t like I had more time to text her back anyway.

Sebastian unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to me. “I have something for you.”

I braced myself. “Did your wig guy come through?”

His lips twitched. “He did.”
