The man cocked his head, waiting patiently for my question.

"Will you drive me back here next Friday so I can teach?"

He considered me for a moment. "We can make that work." I almost dared him to say no so we could banter about it.

"Seriously?"

"If you need to be here, we'll make it happen." He dropped his gaze back to his laptop.

I sank into my hip. "Huh, that was easy."

I watched as Sebastian's mouth kicked up in the corner and satisfaction washed over me.

"Interesting. Very interesting," Daisy muttered so only I could hear her.

I didn't want to dive into the theories she had while Sebastian was within hearing distance. "Have you heard from my brother?"

Daisy lifted a brow, and I suspected she knew exactly what I was doing.

"He texted. He's picking up the food now and will meet us at Sebastian's."

"Excellent. Just let me clean up a few things and then we can head out."

We arrived at Sebastian's apartment thirty minutes later. As we took the elevator to the top floor, I bounced on my heels, eager to see his place. He clearly preferred his house outside the city, but would this hold more nuggets about his personality and his life? I was dying to find out.

The elevator spat us out on his floor. He had his own private access, which meant we didn't have to unlock anything.

Fancy.

There was a small vestibule area where Sebastian set down his keys and wallet. The walls were dark paneled wood that screamed sophistication.

"Can I get either of you something to drink?" Sebastian asked.

Daisy and I followed him to the kitchen. The whole space was clean, minimalist. Black furniture. More dark paneled walls. Chrome appliances.

"I'll take some wine if you have it," I said.

"I'd love a Sauvignon Blanc if that's possible," Daisy chimed in with her request.

Sebastian opened a wine fridge and got out a red and a white. I certainly had a preference for reds, but especially in the winter. I peeked at the label, and it did not disappoint.

I stepped forward. "Let me help."

He got the corkscrew out for me and then went to grab some glasses.

Daisy's phone chimed. "That's Dominic, he's downstairs."

Sebastian gave a sharp nod. "I'll let security know he can come up."

Within minutes my brother arrived, and we were seated at the table.

"How are things going with the Building a Better Business Plan series?" I asked Daisy. She’d won a grant for her library that was helping to pay for some upgrades, additional classes, and programs to uplift the community. Technically it's a grant from Calm Waters, my brother's company. It meant that they had to be around each other and after butting heads, they fell in love. Because it certainly wasn’t love at first sight. More like hate at first sight.

Daisy set down her fork. “It’s going so well. We only have a couple of weeks left of presenters and then there is going to be an all-day workshop where people are paired with mentors. They will spend the day getting advice and perfecting their business plan. The ultimate goal is to have them leaving the program set up for success. One of the participants has even started scouting locations for the barbershop they want to open. It’s fun seeing how things come together.”

I finished chewing my Pad Thai noodles and tilted my head at my brother. “Are you going to have Dominic come back and play mentor?”

Daisy smiled. “I planned on it. I just haven’t asked him yet.”
