With a few clicks, I managed to get her online and working. “I don’t see anything malicious, but I want to take another look. Let me do my thing here and then I’ll head over as soon as I’m done.”

“I’ll be up.”

I ended the call and continued to search Luna’s servers to see if anything was awry.

“I take it you’re leaving?” Faith asked from the doorway, arms crossed, frown on her face.

“I have to visit a client at Club Deux.” I wondered if she recalled seeing me there not too long ago. We hadn’t talked about it. I wasn’t sure how to broach the question with her without giving away that I was admiring her from across the room. That detail seemed too intimate to divulge.

She dropped her arms and walked slowly into the room. I had a love seat stationed facing my desk for the rare guest that entered my office, but rather than taking a seat there she walked to the edge of my desk. “Take me with you.”

“Why?”

“The better question is, why not? You haven’t left my side all day and suddenly you’re cool with leaving me behind?”

“This is the most secure apartment in the city. You’ll be safe alone here for a few hours.”

Her face turned to stone. “Is this some sort of booty call? You’re trying to ditch me so you can get laid.”

Holy fuck, I know what this is.

She was jealous. Faith Waters was actually jealous that Luna called me. That I would leave her for another woman.

Interesting.

I wanted to press her. “Would it matter if I was?”

She crossed her arms, ears turning red. “Well, it wouldn’t be very professional now would it?”

I’d never seen her so cross before and it was a sight to behold.

“Why does that personally impact you?”

She went to open her mouth, then closed it. “Well, you promised to keep me safe and now you’re trying to dart off in the middle of the night without me.”

“I wouldn’t dart. I’d just walk at a normal pace.” I made a fist over my mouth to stop myself from smiling.

Her eyes narrowed. “You’re avoiding my question, Sebastian, and normally I give you a pass and let you get away with it.”

“But you won’t tonight?”

“Are you or are you not going to sleep with Luna?”

I threw my head back and laughed. A full-bodied laugh like I hadn’t done in God knows how long. The idea of being with Luna was absurd, especially considering the cross woman in front of me was the only one I thought about. The only one I wanted to be with. The one driving me out of my mind.

Faith’s frown morphed into confusion. “So, no?”

“No. I’m not sleeping with Luna. I’ve never slept with Luna. I never want to sleep with Luna. She’s one of my few friends and a great client who has the potential to give me a phenomenal contract. She’s also the person I was originally scheduled to meet with today, but it got pushed to tomorrow morning.”

Faith’s shoulders slackened. “Huh.”

“Besides, I think you’d like her.”

EIGHTEEN

FAITH

Sebastian knew the back entrance to the club. One that celebrities took to avoid the press. It led straight to the VIP area, and the place pulsed around us. My friends would never take advantage of this entrance. They thought the whole point of going out was to be seen.
