She smiled at me. "Sure it is."

I didn't know what to say.

Constance groomed herself in the rearview mirror while we sat at a red light. "You're doing me a favor. Sebastian will be too busy with you to make a fuss about me meeting up with Michael."

"You have a date tonight!? Why is this the first I'm hearing of this? And who is Michael?"

"Michael is the very nice man who owns the auto body shop in town."

"Oh, sexy mechanic. I love that. How Amy Daws of you."

"He’s very handsome."

I wanted to squeal, I was so excited for her. "How are you feeling about the date?"

Constance pulled into a small public parking lot in front of the grocery store. She threw the car into park and stared out the windshield. "My heart won't stop racing and I almost threw up this morning."

My heart squeezed for her. "You're nervous."

She belted a laugh. "Very."

I leaned over and put a hand on her shoulder. Constance broke her gaze to look at me. "You're incredible. You're gorgeous. He should be the one to be nervous because you're a catch."

She didn't look convinced.

"I'm serious."

"Will you help me get ready?" She glanced at my outfit. "You know fashion and I could use your help."

My smile widened. "I'd love to help you. We're going to make you look so hot and I'll make sure we sneak you off the property, so Sebastian doesn't realize what's going on."

I was already unsure how I’d make dinner and now dessert today but there was no way in hell I could turn down this woman. I loved that she trusted me enough to ask for help.

Constance released a huge breath. "I'd appreciate that, sweetie."

And the term of endearment from her made me even more resolved than ever to help her.

TWENTY-ONE

SEBASTIAN

Earlier today, Faith popped her head in my office and told me she was making dinner so I should stop working at seven.

That was it.

No explanation. No nothing. Then she disappeared, and I didn't see her again.

When my alarm went off at five minutes to seven, I finished up what I was doing and made my way to the kitchen. Suddenly nervous, I wiped my hands on my pants. The house was otherwise quiet. Willow had come in and out of my office throughout the day keeping with her new routine to check on both me and Faith.

She spent more time with Faith than me. Not that I was keeping track.

I heard the music first. Melodic sounds echoed through the hallway. They weren't coming from the kitchen, but rather the atrium.

I doubled back down the hall toward the room that had been Faith's since the day she’d arrived.

The lights were dimmed, and the space twinkled from the flickering light from the candle at the center of the table. The tablescape was simple and romantic at the same time.

What the hell was going on here?
