I held my breath as I waited for her to say something. Anything.

“I like your work. You’re talented.”

“You think so?” My art was the one thing I wasn’t certain about. It was still too new, too fickle for me to feel confident in it. Besides, art was subjective. Everyone had their preferences and sometimes those preferences didn’t align. I tried not to take it too seriously when my art wasn’t someone’s cup of tea.

But I secretly wanted my new friend to like it.

Luna glanced over her shoulder. “You don’t know me that well yet, but I’ll always tell you the truth, whether you want to hear it or not.”

“That I can believe.”

She circled around the atrium, exploring the space.

The sun had set a while ago, so we couldn’t see much outside the glass beyond the small solar powered lights that were scattered along the paths around the house. The small lights were magical in their own way, especially when the light hit the glass windows.

“So what made Sebastian hand over his address?”

She pointed a finger at me from across the room. “It was you.”

“What do you mean?”

She sank into her hip as she observed my latest piece. “He gave it right over when I said you wanted to see me. I guess your needs trump mine. I wonder why that is.” Luna gave me a pointed look.

“It couldn’t possibly be because of a few orgasms.”

Luna’s head whipped around to face me. “Multiple? Oh this is good. I hope those orgasms were returned in kind. A woman’s pleasure should always come first.”

I glanced at the doorway, praying that Sebastian locked himself back in his office and couldn’t hear our conversation. Even so, I lowered my voice. “Trust me. The man is very giving.”

She gave me a high five. “I’m so proud of him and happy for you. If that man wasn’t good in bed, I’d tell you to ditch him and move on.”

“And now? What’s your advice knowing he knows how to rock my socks off?”

We made our way to the couches that filled a corner of the space. “Now I think you have as much fun as possible as you finish these paintings.”

Mentioning my paintings brought me back to reality. “He’s definitely jump-started something. I just need to keep the momentum going.”

“Do you feel like you can keep the momentum going?”

I shrugged saucily. “As long as he keeps me coming.”

“That’s my girl.”

TWENTY-SEVEN

SEBASTIAN

I could hear the laughter all the way down the hall.

Those two together were trouble. No doubt about it.

But hearing Faith laugh and enjoy herself, it made it all worth it. Even if I hated the idea of giving anyone else my address. Luna, however, had been persistent and persuasive.

Letting her come over to spend time with Faith was a no brainer. Besides, it beat the alternative of Faith going to the city alone.

We’d spent most of the day apart. Me catching up on work and Faith immersed in her painting. I didn’t want to disturb her now that she’d finally found her flow. A fact that made my chest puff with pride.

If I thought the woman plagued my every waking thought before, I was wrong. Now that we’d been together, now that I knew her intimately, I couldn’t get her out of my head. Her scent was imprinted in my brain. The taste of her skin on the tip of my tongue.
