We settled into the plush seats of a private plane. Sebastian appeared at ease, with his laptop open, clacking away at the keys.

“Are you doing some last-minute prepping?”

He glanced up, his cheeks hollowing out as he concentrated. “Barnes is notorious for pulling shit like this. Your brother and I talked about it when he was over the other day.”

“And what advice did my brother give to you?”

Sebastian all but grunted.

That piqued my curiosity. “Tell me.”

“He told me to be myself,” Sebastian mumbled with a shake of his head.

I put a hand on my hip, which was much harder than usual given the fact that I was sitting and restricted by my seatbelt.

“You say that like it's a bad thing.”

“I’m good at my job and I’m hoping you dazzle him enough to give me a chance.”

“This will be more about you being good at your job than me dazzling him.”

Sebastian swiped a hand along his jaw. I could tell by his expression that he didn’t believe me.

I threaded my hand through his. “Tell me everything I need to know.”

He squeezed my hand firmly, and I returned it in kind. “You’ve got this,” I assured him. “We’ve got this.”

For the first time today, his jaw loosened.

I planted a kiss on his cheek. “So, Vegas, huh?”

He nuzzled in my neck, inhaling deeply. “Here we come.”

THIRTY-SIX

SEBASTIAN

The descent into Las Vegas never got old, especially at night with the lights illuminating the Strip. It breathed life. People milled around, drinking, laughing, exploring.

It wasn’t my scene, but I could live with it for a day or two. Or however long Harrison wanted to keep me here. He hadn’t given specifics, which grated me, but I wasn’t exactly in a position to demand answers.

Hopefully that would change soon.

I checked my phone and found a missed text message from Harrison.

Harrison

Meet us at the High Roller.

I showed the text to Faith.

"Isn't that the big Ferris wheel on the strip? Kind of looks like the London Eye?"

I pocketed my phone. "That's the one."

"I thought we were going to a private room at the Bellagio."

Our eyes met and everything stirred within me. I wished we had time to ourselves before this meeting. I'd take her to my favorite suite, and we'd get lost in each other's bodies. My body couldn't get enough of her. Just having her near elicited a chain reaction in my body. Lighting me on fire from within. I doubted I'd ever get enough of Faith Waters.
