Page 15 of Tempting Reese

“You don’t go on dates,” Mav called her out.

Reese shook her head at her son. It was the shake that promised retribution. She made sure Mav understood before she turned to get the bread out of the oven. Reese transferred the hot slices to a plate and then to the table. Hands on her hips, she stared down the three teaming up against her.

“I don’t give a shit what you wear,” Cash grinned at her. He was beginning to love what that stance did to her body. Hell, what it did to his body. That sassy mouth and those curves made him want to kneel at her feet and give her the world if she wanted it. Well, the world and a few other things that would be convenient if he were on his knees in front of her.

Cash’s grin made Reese’s pulse spike. He was wearing the same look Pappy wore when he was about to do something. Things were quickly getting out of hand.

“No,” Reese waved her hands in front of her. “I don’t know what you are thinking, but no.”

Cash laughed as he scooped her up and swung her over his shoulder.

“Put me down, you, big oaf,” Reese growled. “I am not going anywhere with you.” She pounded his back but got little as a result. Nope, he only grunted at her in a way that made Reese think he was humoring her attempt to get free.

“Beautiful, it is time for dinner. Have a good night,” Cash called, carrying her right out her front door.

Reese was mad. No, she was more than mad. She couldn’t think of the right word right now hanging over his shoulder. This infuriating man tossed her around and easily took her where he wanted to go with her. No one stopped him. That was it. They were going to have to have a discussion about boundaries and interfering at her house. They all thought this was a fine idea. Well, they were wrong.

“If you think I am going to have dinner with you after this, you have lost your damn mind,” Reese cried, switching tactics using her feet to kick at him.

Cash retaliated with a good crack across her upturned ass, and then, god help him, he caressed the spot he smacked. He couldn’t help it. Her ass felt too good under his hand. One touch was never going to be enough. Cash reminded himself they were in the middle of the street in broad daylight with all the neighbors watching.

“Watch the goods, woman.”

“Put me down, you idiot,” she seethed.

“As soon as we get to my house,” he promised. He gave in and caressed the spot he hoped was reddened with his hand print one more time. Just the thought of looking at her bare ass had him quickening his steps and his jeans tightening.

“You in a hurry for me to kick your ass?”

“Beautiful, I would love to get a better look at that ass, but I doubt it will be tonight.”

“Mother of god, why am I the one who has to have the horny neighbor? Are there no other single women in this town you can bother?”

His deep chuckle was the only answer she got. Stepping into his house, Cash eased his hold on her, slowly sliding her body down the front of his. Reese could feel a sizzle sending tingles across her skin as she slid down his front. She committed every detail of unyielding muscle to memory. When her bare feet touched the cool hardwoods, she sank against him with a soft moan, relishing the feel of his erection straining against his jeans. It had been a damn long time since someone made her want. Cash made her more than want.

“From the sounds, I don’t think I am the only horny one in this room,” Cash groaned. The way her body matched his was better than the images he thought up all day. He was tired of resisting the urge to touch her. Cash gave in to his need to wrap his arms around her and held her tight to him.

“You don’t ever listen. Why should you start now?” Reese wondered out loud as she drew away from him. She was a little surprised when he let her go. She knew her nipples were clearly visible. The bra attached to the inside of her tank was doing nothing to disguise them. Thank god he couldn’t tell what other traitorous parts of her body were doing.

It was time to focus on something else before she climbed the man wreaking havoc on her control like a tree. A big, strong, incredibly hot tree. Turning around, Reese saw boxes stacked in the living room. There was an overstuffed leather couch and a matching recliner mixed in among the boxes. Nothing was labeled, and if there was an order to it, Reese couldn’t see it. A couch in the middle of the room, a chair, and a lot of stuff stacked around it. The walls were white, and the trim was white. Cash had yet to put his mark on the place. No doubt the man hadn’t had time to unpack with all the time he spent harassing his neighbors.

“Come on, Beautiful. Food is in the kitchen,” Cash took her hand, tugging her toward the back of the house. He could tell she was checking out his place. Cash couldn’t find it in him to care that the contents of his new house were still packed in boxes scattered across the living room. He would get it unpacked one of these days. Maybe he could sweet-talk her into helping.

Reese found his house had the same layout as hers. Everyone on their street had the same general footprint. In his kitchen sat more boxes waiting to be unpacked. There was a vast difference between her kitchen and his. The last owners remodeled this room. The cabinets were painted a slate color bringing out the colors in the backsplash. His countertops were beautiful butcher block. Forgetting her irritation directed at the man in front of her, Reese smiled and lovingly ran her hand over the wooden top letting her kitchen envy show.

“Damn, I have never been jealous of a countertop before right this second.”

“Your kitchen is great,” Reese smiled at him. “Ooohh, soft close,” she mooned, pulling open a drawer and then watching it close.

Cash swore under his breath. Watching her check out his kitchen was a test of his willpower he never expected. If she ran her hand across his counter one more time, he was going to have to do more than adjust himself. The look on her face was doing nothing to tame the raging hard-on in his pants. He wanted to see the look on her face when she stoked him. Even better would be the look she wore when he finally got to run his hands all over her body, touching and tasting wherever he wanted. They were going to get there. He had absolutely no doubt about that. She was his. All he had to do was get her to trust him.

Cash tried to focus on something else, anything else, but Reese was exploring his kitchen like it was a wonderland of delights found in her dreams. The little sounds she made when she discovered something new were about to drive him over the edge. “Reese, woman, you are killing me.”

“What?” She asked absently. Reese let out a quiet sigh of longing as she watched the cabinet door close with barely a sound.

Growling, Cash grabbed her hips, jerking her to him before his lips captured hers. Her gasp of surprise was all the invitation he needed to sink further into her. Teasing her tongue with his, he stroked her until a needy moan escaped her. Fisting a hand in her hair, he tilted her head, nipping her bottom lip before licking the sting away and then diving back in for more. The subtle way she moved against him and the moans he wasn’t sure Reese knew she made had Cash teetering on the edge of sanity. Kissing Reese was a lot like trying to hold fire. She was captivating to watch with a feel so hot he wasn’t sure if he would survive it. The woman could draw him in until his only thought was her.

“Beautiful,” Cash breathed heavily. “Beautiful, we have to stop, or I have to have you now. I am ready to come in my jeans. I haven’t done that since I was a teenager.”
