“Who is Reginald Arthur Regent the God damn third? Angelina, you better get this bullshit out of your head now because you are not getting involved with anything written on this page. I will plant that bastard behind this barn if he shows his face here trying to get to you.”

“What I do and who I do it with is none of your business,” Angelina told him as she tried to snatch the papers out of his hand. She never wanted to see Reginald again, but he didn’t need to know that. “He is none of your business. I am none of your business. Jake is none of your business. Do you see a pattern emerging here?”

“Angelina,” he narrowed his eyes in warning.

“I have no idea what you and my father talked about or agreed to, and honestly, I don’t care. It is between you and him. It has nothing to do with me. I will stay in my lane. You need to stay in yours. The farming equipment is in the barn behind the house. There is no need for us to discuss anything or get in each other’s way. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy watching you intimidate the delivery kid. That aside, you need to butt out.”

“No.”

“What do you mean no? You can’t tell me no.”

“Just did. I will say it again; not going to happen.”

Ben wrapped his hands around her ass. There was only one way he knew of to settle this. Lifting her, he wrapped her legs as far as they would go around him. One hand stayed on her ass, holding her scorching heat to him, and his other tangled in her hair.

“Ben,” Angelina gasped.

He didn’t answer. His lips brushed hers. When she didn’t bite him, he did it again. Nothing prepared him for Angelina in his arms and his mouth on hers. Swallowing her moan, he let the need pent up in him flow into her. Tasting, caressing, pleasuring until that wasn’t enough. He hungered for more.

Sinking deeper, demanding entrance, he got his first taste of a lifelong craving. He craved a woman that made him want. Years of waiting made more than one thing absolutely clear and painfully hard. One taste was never going to be enough. The woman in his arms was quickly becoming an obsession beyond reason. Her body melted against him, begging for more. With his mouth fused to hers, he walked over to her chair. It took all his restraint to pull his lips away from hers.

Pride swelled in him when he saw her lips were red and swollen. Her eyes were dazed, and she was breathing hard. Little nipples poked out of her shirt. Angelina was everything he ever wanted and more. He had to be cautious. He had a few more things to do before he made her his completely.

“Dinner is at seven.”

“What?” Angelina asked.

Her mind scattered the second his lips touched hers. It was like trying to hold a live wire. It shocked her to her core in the very best way. Her body trembled. She held on tighter, refusing to let go. She could still feel the tingle as she pressed a hand against her lips.

“At seven o’clock, your sweet little ass had better be sitting at the table,” Ben spelled it out for her, proud that he scrambled her brain. “We are going to eat and talk.”

“I’m busy.”

Ben nipped her bottom lip, and she moaned. It was all the invitation he needed to devour her again. Angelina wasn’t sure how her hands ended up tangled in his shirt. All she knew was this man consumed her. Nothing else mattered when he touched her. He brought her more pleasure with a kiss than all the others she had been with combined. Max was right. It was different. Max. Jake. Angelina jerked back, almost toppling over the chair.

“You need to go,” she told him.

“Seven,” Ben told her as he lifted her off him and sat her in the chair. “Don’t make me come find you.”

Angelina sat staring with her mouth hanging open as he walked away. She heard the door roll open.

“You’re going to be mine,” he called.

The door closed, and the barn was enveloped in silence. She had no idea how long she sat there before the thought hit her.

“I am so screwed,” she groaned.

Chapter 7

Angelina sat at the tiki bar waiting for Jake. Max eyed her warily but didn’t say a word. There was no doubt the delivery kid did his job. The whole town probably knew about the incident in her office—nothing like being the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons. Dating the town lawyer and having a man at home was not on her to-do list. Not that she had a man at home. Well, she did, but Ben was there because of her father. He wasn’t hers, at least not in the way he assumed.

“What is the 911?” Jake asked as he slid into the seat beside her.

Angelina jumped and let out a little squeak. She was too wrapped up in her thoughts to see him coming.

“Hey.” Jake reached for her hands. “Sweetness, what’s wrong?”

“Oh my God,” she sighed, letting her head fall to the table. “It’s so bad.”
