Ben stiffened beneath her. What else could have happened? How could one woman cause such a commotion when she didn’t leave her office? He was going to have to stick closer to the house. He needed to figure out a way to get the work he promised Quinn done and keep both eyes on Angelina.

“Gary and Mack are buying two designs with minimal changes.”

“That is a good thing, right?”

“They are also betting on my love life. It was a first. My clients started betting on my love life all because some possessive overgrown man dropped out of nowhere and decided I was his. Using that questionable judgment, he kissed me in front of them, endangering my reputation.”

“How did me kissing you in front of two men endanger your reputation? They both have eyes. They can see how hot you are. All I did was let them know not to cross the line.”

“Is that all?” Angelina muttered.

“What was the bet?”

“After they left,” Angelina ignored his question. “I had another first. I have been doing this for twelve years. In all that time, I have never had someone seek me out because they were attracted to me. He thought he would have a chance to make me his wife by retaining my services.”

“Again, Shorty. Any man with eyes and half a brain in his head notices you. I can’t fault a man for trying as long as he understands you are no longer available. He has to live with the knowledge he was too damn late.”

“A polygamist family. I had no idea. It looked like a multi-family dwelling. I was kind of right but wrong more than I could imagine.”

“You told him you weren’t interested,” Ben encouraged her to continue. He wondered if he needed to put cameras in her office. If men kept coming around sniffing after what was his, it wouldn’t be out of the question.

“Yes, they still want the house plans with a few changes and the addition of a few in-law suites. He understands that I do not want to be courted by him with the intent to be lucky wife number four. I guess he is attracted to women who have careers. He is married to an accountant, a doctor, and a sales rep.”

“You have had one hell of a day,” Ben murmured, kissing her temple.

“All that on top of watching a few idiots fighting in the living room and answering the door in your t-shirt and nothing else. It was a great day.”

“All I did was plow a few fields after I kissed the woman who owns me, and then she tossed me out of her office for showing her what she means to me.”

“Poor baby.”

“My feelings were hurt.”

“Is that right?”

“You should let me lick your pussy until I feel better.”

Angelina’s giggle turned into a laugh.

“That was mean. You should keep me between those legs until my feelings aren’t hurt anymore. You could dry my tears with your thighs.”

“I know nothing about you. You showed up here with my father. He left the next morning. If you were a murderer, I would be dead by now. Maybe you are just biding your time until you get what you want. After that, you are going to off me.”

“Are you afraid of me?”

“Does it feel like I am afraid of you?” Angelina ground herself against him.

“Feels like you are trying to kill me,” Ben groaned.

“Where do you live?”

“Nowhere.”

“What do you mean nowhere? Everyone has an address somewhere.”

“I got out a year ago.”

“And.”
