“Quit bitching. Who else gets to travel the world ridding it of pieces of shit that are sucking up too much oxygen?”

“Where is the next one?”

“Canada.”

“No.” Brooks shook his head vehemently. “I’m not going back there.”

“One little moose and you swore off the whole country.”

“The bastard was huge, and it chased me for a mile before it gave up.”

A smile tugged at the corner of Warren’s lips.

“Where exactly in Canada?”

“We are headed to a spa in Vancouver. No moose allowed.”

“One time. One damn time it is going to be you.”

“Not likely.”

“What is the plan for the next mark? It isn’t like we can shoot him in a spa. Is this the guy whose last two wives died from unfortunate accidents?”

“Pushing one down a flight of stairs and the other drowning in the pool do not qualify as unfortunate or an accident. Especially when he took out a life insurance policy on each one the week before they died.”

“Nothing says true love quite like a hefty life insurance payout.”

“He likes cryotherapy.”

“Nice,” Brooks nodded, impressed. “We get in, freeze his ass, get out.”

“That is the plan. There is a map of the place and the specs for the machine in a folder I sent to your phone. Once he is immersed in the machine, it becomes another unfortunate accident.”

“There is a nice little café across the street,” Brooks planned out loud. “We can grab something to eat while we wait for someone to find him.”

Warren parked the car at the airport’s rental return lot. He grabbed the gym bag and casually walked beside Brooks as they headed to the taxi line. Both men were silent on the way to the county airstrip. Multiple distractions were a necessity in their line of work. A ticket was booked on the next flight to Dallas in their names. There was only one problem. Sneaking a rifle onto a plane was a lot harder than it used to be. Cash in the right palm made his issue disappear at a county strip.

“Come on, honey,” Brooks teased. “It is time to get our vacation started.”

Warren paid the driver, tipping him extra for his discretion. He waited until they were inside the smaller airport before he checked on Rose. His heart hurt when he saw the dark circles under her eyes and the way her shoulders sagged. She was serving drinks. To anyone else, it looked like she was smiling and chatting to the men seated at the bar. She was good at putting on a brave front, but he could see the smile, and her light-hearted attempts never reached her eyes. Those blue beauties only showed bright for him.

“I’m coming for you, Petal,” he whispered as his thumb caressed the image on the screen. “Hold on a little longer.”

Rose rubbed her arms and turned, looking directly at the camera. Warren watched as she shook her head and got back to work. Hope soared within him. She could feel him watching her even though his wife had no idea.

“We are going to knock these two out, and you will be with your girl by the end of the week. Have you given any thought to how you are going to tell her?”

“No.”

“Buddy, you better think of something, or you are going to regret teaching her to throw knives,” Brooks chuckled. “Thank God she doesn’t have a gun on her, or you wouldn’t even get the chance to open your mouth. I can’t believe you thought it was a good idea to ghost your wife for the last year. Your wife.”

“Someday you will be sitting in the same boat, my friend. I’m going to laugh my ass off at you for irritating me.”

“Your plane is ready.”

“You coming with us, darlin’?” Brooks asked with a grin.

“Absolutely, handsome. My name is Evette, and I will be your in-flight concierge for this trip. I have a note that was left for me to give to you.”
