“Selfless, right?” Tanya nodded. “Franny got the good years, so she should be the one who has to take care of him in the end.”

“Who ties her shoes?”

“So Tank was off the table since there is something wrong with him,” Warren reiterated, encouraging her to keep going.

“Oh yeah, but you look good, by the way.”

“Focus bitch,” Warren roared. His temple pulsed, and his eye twitched.

“Better tell him fast,” Brooks warned. “I have seen that look before, and it never ends well.”

“I wanted a pretty house,” she stuttered as she burst into tears. “I would never have the money to buy one when I don’t get paid for all the work I do here. Roach said he would get me a nice place. Somewhere by the ocean.”

“You should have asked for more,” Tank said evenly. “Kill my wife, his wife, and four men. Seems like you got the short end of the stick.”

“No one was going to die. He was going to take them with him. Maybe he was into older women with saggy boobs. I’m not judging. Everyone has their kinks.”

“I’m done,” Warren growled.

“Do I get my house now?” She perked up.

Warren’s brow furrowed in disbelief.

Shuffling behind them distracted Warren from the confused woman in the cage. A scowl crossed his face at the interruption. It deepened when he saw who came into the room.

“Love the aesthetics, Bunny,” Rose teased. “Was this here when the cult decided to move, or was it something you added to make it more homey?”

“It was here,” Franny answered. “The cage and all the chains. They weren’t using this room for punishment.”

“Wow. Cults gone wild. Good thing you got it for a bargain.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Where you go, I go,” Franny blinked up at Tank as innocently as she could manage.

“Your ass isn’t going to sit for a week.”

“Wow, Bunny. I’d tell you to make sure you clean the kitchen counter after you are done, but you don’t have one of those anymore.”

“Petal, what are you doing out of bed?”

“You took too long,” she sassed. “What are the odds we could get one of those for our new house? I have ideas.”

Brooks burst out laughing.

Vulture stepped out from behind the women. “What about the guy who tampered with the oven? What did she have to say about that?”

“Who was stupid enough to take the one appliance I could bake with?” Rose demanded.

“Get to the point,” Franny rolled her eyes. “Who tried to blow me up?”

“I’m still not happy about being shoved in a wall.”

“Franny, I’m sorry for your loss. Tank was a good man,” Tanya nodded sadly.

“Are you dying?” Franny asked. “Why does she think you’re dying?”

“They gave him a cream,” Rose interrupted. “Cured him right up.”
