Rose laid there happy and sated. There was no better feeling in the world than this.

“Love you,” Rose mumbled sleepily.

“You are my world, Petal.”

Warren wrapped his arms around her and gently settled her head on his chest.

“Where do we live?”

“You can take your pick. If there isn’t something you like, we can buy whatever you want.”

“How many properties do you own?” Rose tensed. How could she have not known this? However, she had no idea her husband rid the world of trash either. A second property didn’t seem like much compared to that.

“Every house we lived in since we got married and a few others,” Warren admitted.

Alright. So, it was a little more than a second home. It was Warren. Of course, it was more than a backup house.

“Every house,” she repeated. “What do you mean every house? Since we got together? All the places we stayed while you were in the service and since then?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Extra income.”

“Exactly how much money do you think I need?” She glared at him.

“Rose, don’t look at me like that.”

“No more secrets.”

Rose rested her head on his chest. Her mind was stuck. He owned every house they ever lived in. “Do you rent them?”

“Yes.”

“Is that part of the money that is in case something happens cash?”

“No.”

Rose waited. She knew he was struggling. It would take time to get used to telling her everything.

“It goes to the families of the fallen.”

Her heart thudded in time with his. This man. He was a complicated mix of soft inside and granite outside.

“I want to live in a smaller house. No more than two bedrooms. Somewhere close to your office building so I can bring you lunch. If you aren’t too busy, I can suck your dick under your desk while I’m there. Maybe you can bend me over the conference table if no one is around.”

“Damn, Petal,” Warren groaned. “I’m hard again, and if you keep saying shit like that, I am going to be in that pussy all night long.”

“Don’t forget my mouth,” Rose smirked as she nipped his peck. “We have a year to make up for. We’re going to need more than one night.”

Chapter 24

Rose woke to the sound of someone beating on their door. She had been sound asleep, curled up in Warren’s arms. It wasn’t like he let her get much sleep last night. It was partially her fault. She taunted him with all the things she wanted him to do to her in his office. The other part was just the man himself. He was insatiable. She wondered if there was something in the water here. Franny said Tank was the same way. Who knew for sure, but she might have to sneak a bottle in her suitcase before they left. Purely for research purposes, of course.

The door rattled under the force of the fist on the other side.

Warren growled and locked his arms around Rose.
