“You’re serious?”

“Absolutely.”

“No emergency phone call as we are boarding the plane?”

“Brooks is handling everything while we are gone.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

Excitement bubbled through her. “Get out of my way,” she playfully shoved him away from the water. “I am getting a vacation with my husband.”

Warren chuckled as he gave her all the water she wanted.

“You’re not messing with me, right?”

“Petal, the only way I want to mess with you ends with you screaming my name.”

“Hold that thought.” Rose rinsed the soap from her body. “I need to pack.” Ripping open the shower curtain, she was out of the shower before Warren could reach for her.

“Not nice,” he grumbled.

“You are getting two weeks.”

Rose wrapped a towel around her and hurried to the closet. Stuffing her clothes into her suitcases, she was sitting on the first one to get it zipped when Warren emerged from the bathroom. Her eyes locked on the drop of water that slowly wound down his chest and disappeared under the towel wrapped around his hips.

“You wanted coffee.”

Rose rolled her eyes and zipped the other suitcase. Rolling them to the door, she left them there for later.

“Clothes on,” she reminded herself when Warren dropped the towel.

Warren smirked at her. Rose cocked her hip and dropped her towel. A guttural moan filled the room. She put an extra sway in her hips as she walked to the bed.

“Careful, love. Don’t tease the man who has been without his wife for too long. I have plans for you.”

“And what are those plans?”

Warren tugged a shirt over his head but kept his mouth shut.

“Keep your secrets,” she scowled. “Just know that revenge will be swift and severe.”

His deep laugh filled the room.

“We need to be on the road in half an hour,” he told her as he strolled to the door.

Rose grumbled under her breath as she hurried to get dressed. Fifteen minutes later, she emerged from the room to find Birdy waiting for her with a cup of coffee in his hand. He made it just the way she liked it. Rose had to swallow down her emotions.

“Birdy,” Rose sighed. “We cannot keep meeting like this. Warren will get pissed.”

“Let him,” he grinned, hugging her tight. “I can take him.”

Rose laughed. “I won’t tell him you said that.”

“He steps out of line; I better be your first phone call. I will smack him around until he remembers how lucky he is.”

“Aw, Birdy. You are going to make me cry.”
