Whereas Python keeps his eyes locked on mine, “Yeah, you’re right. We do.”

I get off my chair and walk up to him, my heart beating intensely in my chest.

I take one of the canvases and start tearing back the paper, “Is this supposed to be some of her work on display?”

As soon as I have a third of the paper torn back, I see the most colorful, gorgeous piece.

There are bunches of cats on it with all sorts of colors, hair types, and even an orange one with one eye.

I smile, unable to believe how beautiful this is.

Python clears his throat, “Do you like it?”

I press my lips together and nod, my eyes becoming glassy.

I’m so stressed out with Tony’s calls and I needed something like this to lift my spirits.

Looking up into his eyes I tell him, “I love it. This is amazing.”

He smiles lightly and offers me the other canvas.

He graciously holds the other while I peel back the paper on this one, and it’s a painting of my store with bright, bold colors, people out of the door, and cats positioned around perfectly.

“I can’t wait to put these up.” I mutter, showing Daniela how gorgeous the paintings are.

She takes a sip of her iced cappuccino. “They look awesome,” she pauses for a moment and looks at Python, “I’m Daniela, by the way. I’m one of Astra’s nearest and dearest friends.”

Python walks over to her and extends a hand, “Python. I’m a new friend of Astra’s.” He looks over at me for a split second.

Daniela smirks, raking her eyes up and down his body, silently approving.

Hell, I know she understands why I’m willing to give him a chance.

He’s a sexy brute, and I haven’t seen one red flag yet.

“He’s a close friend of mine,” I correct him, making sure to look him in the eyes.

Blue comes sauntering down one of the rope lined trees and runs right up to Python.

He climbs up his jeans until he’s nestled right on one of his arms.

Python chuckles, “What is it with this cat?”

I raise my brows, “I think he likes you. He hates most people, so you must be special.”

Python places the one canvas on a nearby table and scratches Blue’s head.

He instantly becomes a purring machine.

Python continues to scratch him, making Blue the happiest cat on the planet.

These are the sorts of things that don’t happen very often.

Sure, I get customers in here all the time who fall in love with kittens, or the younger cats, but never the cats who have disabilities or who have been here for a while.

Daniela actually brought Blue in.

She went to a party on the other side of Chihuahua and there were a bunch of people in a circle.
