She said she could hear screeching cats and she pushed herself through the crowd.

It’s where she found Blue and another tomcat in a confined area, both being antagonized to fight.

She scooped Blue up and told off the people who organized it, slapped one of them, and took off with Blue.

The other cat ran off when Daniela took Blue, and she brought him straight to me.

I don’t know how she held onto him given the way she was scratched and bit when she made it to the cafe.

When she got here she let him in the stock room and told me everything, and I took weeks to let him know I wasn’t here to hurt him before I let him out with the rest of the cats.

Luckily, he didn’t fight with any of them, and he’s very sweet to the newcomers.

Licking my lips, I tell Python what I think. “You should take him home. He obviously likes you.”

Python meets my eyes for a moment before looking at Blue. “Does he get along with Maleficent?”

I give him a nod, “Yeah, they’ve always gotten along pretty well. Is Razor going to give you shit about it?”

Python cracks up, “Even if he did, I wouldn’t care. He might be the VP, but he doesn’t get to boss me around in every aspect of my life.”

I arch a brow in surprise, “You’re sure?”

He nods, “Yeah. Maybe Blue needs me, and maybe I need him too.”

See, this right here is why I’m going to give Python a shot.

Sure, he’s dangerous, but he could be delicate with my heart and I want to see if he is.

Python

I haven’t lit a cigarette in years, but fuck if I don’t need one right now.

It’s odd being in one place for too long, and if I’m being honest with myself it’s really starting to make me antsy.

I went around to one of the corner shops and grabbed a pack not too long ago.

I already have lighters galore because I’m a man who loves a cigar, or a blunt every couple of days.

I light my cigarette, the cherry glowing under the veranda of the clubhouse.

The smoke curls up to the top of the veranda, joining the haze that’s already there from the rise in humidity we’ve been experiencing.

My cut feels heavy on my shoulders, the weight of the responsibility weighing down on me.

Was this a good idea?

Honestly, was it smart to accept this offer?

Leaning my head back against the building, I don’t know.

I’ve been on the road for so long that it feels odd to be settled in one place.

Inhaling deeply, I shut my eyes and try to find some peace.

I have things to look forward to here, like being one of the founding members of the Chihuahua charter, and watching the club grow.
