I give him a nod, “As ready as I’m going to be.”

We head downstairs and walk out the side door, stepping outside into the harsh light of day.

The two of us walk right over to his bike and Python curses under his breath, “Motherfucker,”

My eyes immediately go wide, “What? What is it?”

He licks his lips and points to his slashed tires, “Someone got a little pissed last night,”

It’s not someone at all.

This was Tony, and I have no doubt about it.

Fuck, it’s a hot one today.

It’s so hot the air conditioners aren’t doing jack shit, so I have the two garage doors wide open.

The gusts of wind that come in bring a relief to the stark heat.

It reminds me, it’s something we should bring up in church the next time we have it—our shitty air conditioning units.

Beads of sweat roll down my spine and Zorro’s laughter fills my ears.

I turn back to see he’s laughing at something Axel said.

I interject with a grin, wiping my greasy hands on a rag. “What the hell are you laughing about?”

Zorro slaps Axel’s shoulder. “Was filling Zorro in on the last time you were in Billings, and that girl Nancy you met at the trailer park.”

Nancy, man, she was a psycho.

I snort. “Like you two did any better.”

Axel shakes his head, an amused glint in his dark eyes. “We did. Haven’t you seen our wives?”

I raise my brows, “I know you’re married, but Zorro, you married Ruby?”

A shit-eating grin tugs at Zorro’s lips. “I sure did. We eloped in Las Vegas on our way down here.”

I am honestly rendered speechless. “You eloped?”

He gives me a firm nod, “Yeah. We’ve been making all of these big life decisions together and it only seemed fitting that I made her my wife.”

“Congratulations,” I say, happy for my brother.

My smile falters as I think of Astra, at the coffee shop with one of the prospects.

Amara agreed it was a good idea to have the prospects take shifts at the coffee shop throughout the day.

It’s two on, two off.

Their shifts are five hours each, which allows them to be there before the shop opens, and they don’t leave until Astra does.

It’s been a sigh of relief to know Amara was okay lending some resources.
