He stumbles back, pain and surprise etched on his face.

It’s not enough.

Not after what he’s done.

“Come on, tough guy!” I shout, urging him to make a move.

Tony lunges at me, his arms flailing wildly.

I dodge his clumsy attacks, fueled by anger and desperation.

But it’s my own desperation, my own desire to protect Astra, that gives me the edge.

I’m unable to stop, the cruelty he put Astra through makes me want to wring his neck—and I will, but not right now.

I continue to land punches on him until blood stains his face.

I don’t stop, not in the slightest.

He’s tormented Astra for years, abusing her, making her feel like she was nuts, and even stalking her since she left Chicago.

Little does he know, he won’t ever be causing her stress ever again.

Astra has suffered enough at his hands.

With one final blow, he ends up unconscious on the ground.

“You should’ve left her the fuck alone,” I pant, wiping sweat and blood from my brow.

My knuckles ache, but it’s a small price to pay for giving him a slice of retribution.

“Python,” Zorro calls, concern lacing his voice. “What’s the plan?”

Glancing over at Astra for a split second, I know she needs to be back at the clubhouse and looked over.

I’m certain Amara has someone on call to look over her cuts.

“I want Astra back at the club and we’ll get there later.” I state.

There’s no way I’m doing what I am all by myself.

With Elias still on the club’s ass, plus all of the shit going on in the region, I’d be a fool to go without backup.

Blood drips from my clenched fists, my heart pounding in my ears as I turn my attention to Astra.

She’s huddled against the wall, her body trembling with fear and pain.

Blood oozes from the cuts on her arms and legs, staining her clothes and the floor beneath her.

Her eyes are wide, filled with terror and sorrow.

“Python . . . I’m so sorry,” she whispers, tears streaming down her face.

She winces the second the tears slide into her deep cut and my heart aches for her.

“Hey, this isn’t your fault,” I say gently, taking a step toward her. “You don’t have to apologize, Astra.”

She sniffles, wiping at her tears with the back of her hand before wincing at the fresh pain it causes. “I just . . . I wanted to get away from him. That’s why I went outside. I thought maybe I could make it to the club—get to safety so I wasn’t alone.”
