Not pausing her protective nature, my mother leapt onto his back and began pulling his hair to get her revenge in. My eyes found Steven and Mortimer brawling as well. Their combat continued on the ground because I had missed the first of their fight to shoot my father. Even though I wanted to be my usual marksman for them, I couldn't. Between the abrupt concussion I'd gained and the inhalation of smoke, I didn't have my wits about me to miss those who were important.

Hacking harder, I tried to lift my shirt over my nose and mouth to block out more from getting access to my lungs, The filter only helped mildly as the loss of open air diminished my strength to push off the metal grate pinning me. As I kept struggling to push, my eyes took in the fight happening outside my car. Steven began pounding in the face of Mortimer, promising Draven's father would finally lose his long game. My mother stomped on Dominic's balls because she managed to get him on the ground.

A weird sense of pride flooded through me as I witnessed their parental love shining through to win against the adults who didn't care about their offspring. If I died right now, I'd be happy with the outcome I got to be in audience of. My mother gained her revenge for us both as her foot pressed Dominic's face into the ground. She kicked harder than ever to render the buffoon unconscious. Smiling to myself, I wouldn't make it, but they served the justice I needed to see to not haunt this land in my afterlife.

The assholes managed to gather intel that we had fed them false information. Augustus had texted us the travel plans of the vehicles, so we were close to the van. Draven drove like a bat out of hell, getting a text our girl had survived whatever attack found her. Dr. Carmichael's men worked fast to get to her aid as we prepared for the fight here. Now that we knew she was safe and on her way to our location, we needed to end whatever happened here before she arrived.

All the threats kept lurking too close, and I'd be killing whatever parent of mine showed up for it. Turning a corner too sharply, we found ourselves right in front of the fight between our parents as they battled Costas's mom and Millie's dad. Blinking a few times, I had to make sure what I saw was correct. Lucia Malone kept kicking my lifeless father, making me wonder if her and Kasey had a similar fixation on mutilating the men who hurt them. Then I saw the small rise in his chest to know he lived.

Getting out of the rental that barely stopped and squealed its wheels, I jerked the gun from the back of my pants and began rapidly firing at his corpse. I didn't care if I wasted a full clip on him because I had to make sure the motherfucker wouldn't ever stand up again. He'd never hurt anyone I loved, and he'd never deny my brother again. Costas would forever be the family I needed by my side.

My legs shook after seeing how many bullets I put into my father's body, but I did it. I killed the man who had been sabotaging me since birth to be blindly loyal to him. Lucia studied the body I had desecrated before panting over him. She then rushed away toward the back of their van. I could tell from the outside they had rolled a number of times due to an explosion. The van had crushed sides and a collapsed roof.

"Costas!" she cried out. I didn't give it another thought as I chased after her to help. My eyes weren't prepared to see him nearly unconscious and pinned. He gave me a smile like he thought he'd been dreaming.

Draven joined Dr. Carmichael only for a second, placing a bullet into the brain of his own father after Emilia's dad stood up to give him that space. Draven took an extra second to come to terms with what he had to do, but the doctor joined us in retrieving Costas to give him that space. Together, the three of us managed to pull with all our might, shifting the heated metal just enough to pull his leg out. It had been licked by nearing flames, so I knew we had little time to get ourselves and him out of the chaos.

Holding him up to support his weight, Dr. Carmichael took his other side to do the same as we nearly dragged him out of the van. Getting away from the readying blow, it only took another minute for the van to go up in complete flames. Had we not arrived when we did, I would've lost my brother. Falling over Costas, I shielded him from the rest of the madness as the fire consumed the vehicle. In my huddle with the heat hitting my back, my mind raced to remember when this very scene played out oppositely. Costas let his body burn to protect me, and I’d do the same now for him. Though, no true flames licked my flesh as I guarded him from the heat.

Draven hadn't left the position he'd killed his father in, holding the gun out still over the place he fired it. His mind needed time to cope with the fact he kept the man living too long. I'd give that to him as I studied over my fallen brother. Costas kept making groans as he tried to shake his head right. He wanted to be awake, but he found it hard to focus through the haze his mind created. He'd need a doctor, but I knew one was on the way. He went to Emilia first with Dr. Carmichael's caravan of prison guards.

Speaking of, a truck came our way on the horizon, revealing my girl as she stuck her head out the back window to see me. Her worried eyes softened the moment she saw her men. Costas sat up and waved before lying back down, knowing she just needed to see him move to calm down a little more. Draven finally snapped out of his reverie to see her approaching us. Tucking the gun back into his pants, I knew he had a silent goodbye with his father, sending him off to hell on behalf of everyone he loved while mourning the monster who tricked him into loving him blindly too.

Emilia ran to me first because I sat closer to her arrival spot. Her eyes were bleary as she began to cry. I barely caught her with the force she bolted at me with. Holding her close like she did me, I could tell today had been a lot on her. Draven helped Costas stand to come our way because we all needed to see she survived with our own examining eyes.

"I'm sorry," she wept against me. "I'm so sorry."

"For what?" I tried to calm her down.

"I had to kill your mother." Emilia yanked her face away from my chest. Her grief showed prominently over something I knew would be happening no matter whose hand it had been by. Emilia didn't have much fight to take a life, so it did surprise me that she ended my mom.

Draven made a face over her shoulder, wondering if he heard her correctly. Cleaning out his ear, he tapped against it, knowing we hadn't been in the explosion to lose ours. "You killed Giorgia?"

"She didn't leave me a choice," Emilia heaved out. Stepping back from me, she wrapped her arms around herself and looked to the ground. "I also don't feel bad I did it, but by not caring, I feel sick for it."

Oh, our overthinker letting her mind play tricks on herself. Shaking my head, I let my foot guide me to be in her bubble. Hooking her chin, I forced her to look up at me while I let my love for her show through. "You did what you had to do, and if you hadn't, I would've."

"You?" she gasped.

"While at Draven's island, we found proof my mother has been involved in my father's scheme the whole time. We uncovered pictures of you from the manor in compromised areas. While flying here, we found the correspondent to be from her. If you hadn't killed her, I would've."

"I wouldn't want you to kill your mom just for me." She wiped a stray tear.

"It would be for me too. It would be for us all. You see, if my mother can easily kill the woman I love to help hurt me, what kind of mother am I keeping around? Not one I want alive to keep at it. Between you and Costas, she had to die for us to find our peace."

"But I killed her. Me. I'm supposed to be the one made of light. I've tainted my own soul." Her bottom lip quivered, believing we'd think less of her for doing what was necessary.

Draven came to my aid with Costas still under his wing. "Sunshine, haven't you learned yet?"

"Learned what?" She blinked at him.

"You only shine brighter in our world of darkness, and that includes the darkness you have to survive too." The three of us men gathered around her then, doting on her with everything we had. Together, we had it all because we found our light, our Sunshine.

"Alright, who am I removing the balls to for that giant fuckfest?" Kasey sat up in the back of the truck, glaring daggers my way. So we found our Sunshine and her annoying best friend. Emilia Carmichael was still worth the hassle of Kasey's unfiltered mouth.
