"Payment by punishment is never wrong when the person doesn't expect to pay for his crimes." Kissing her cheek, I walked with her back down the stairs to the front square. Costas just so happened to be guiding out our handsy guest.

"Thank you for the flowers!" Emilia shouted his way. The man jumped at the sound of her kind voice, knowing I'd be right beside her. He didn't turn around as one of Carlo's men fetched him. His boss knew what I planned to do to him, so his return would only end in his firing, if his boss was nice.

"Read me another," I pleaded to Draven as we snuggled on a loveseat in the library. After revealing to me what happened with the book I actually purchased for him, he pulled it out to show me no harm had befallen the real thing once knowing the full story of his escape and my part in it. Today, we enjoyed the old writings of the poetry as he read them to me like his mother once had.

"Another one? But we've read half the book already," he jested lightly. We were enjoying some quality time while Tony handled a few personal things. With all the revelations that came forward, I couldn't blame his work ethic picking up. When we couldn't see an attack coming, our blindness made us want every other sense covered to protect. He did that by hosting more guards at night, stationing one in an undisclosed area only they knew about because a breach had happened there.

Twirling my fingers into his chest hair peeking through his undone buttons, it felt too cozy to leave our bubble of bliss. "Is there ever too much reading for souls like ours?"

"Never," he answered. Closing the book, he pulled me closer into his side. I felt so at home with them that this behavior felt natural. My body knew long before my mind who we belonged to.

"Why are you closing it?" My hand reached to snatch it back. A small giggle fell from my lips as he turned it into a bit of a game. Keep away had never been one I won often, favoring to let others feel victorious in my demise, but I wanted to win this one. Draven read to me like his mother had to him, silly voices and all. I loved it.

"Because, Sunshine, I want to spend time with you in our own story, learn more about you." To his words, I paused my manhandling as I straddled his body to reach above his head. Not being very tall made it easier on him to lord the book over my head. Though, his words had me settling down, staring into his dark eyes.

"And what is it you'd like to know?" Gently smiling, I could tell my position over his crotch manifested other urges. Feeling powerful, I quite enjoyed holding it.

He closed his eyes to concentrate harder on his thoughts and not how I kept swiveling my hips over his pelvis. "Well, I know your favorite people, but I don't know much about what you were like growing up."

"Oh, um, I was the nerd who sat in the front row of my classes and turned my work in on time. I never got invited to parties, but Kasey did, so I went as her date to those and often hid somewhere until she was ready to leave. Nothing too fascinating. Quite contrary, I was rather boring to most... the plain Jane. What about you?"

"I think we had opposite upbringings much like our adult years," he growled when I gyrated just a little harder against his hardness. "I was very much so a younger version of the man I am now."

"I can see that," I purred.

"Sunshine, I'm trying to have a date with you, but I am two seconds away from flipping you over on this couch to have my way with you."

Taking that as my cue, my work here was done. Tony and Draven had been devoting so much time toward me, it felt like my turn to turn the table. Standing off his lap, he nearly sighed in relief. My smirk promised other unholy things to follow. "You're going to go and get Tony off as I wait for you back in the bedroom. When you come, I expect a full and detailed report about how you made him cum."

Draven's eyes darkened, devouring me with another glance. "You're playing a wicked game."

Lifting my sundress over my head, I showed him that nothing sat below the fabric. Only in a thong, I turned for him to see my ass better, covering my breasts with my hands. "Only when I choose to be a bad girl..."

Draven muttered a string of curses under his breath. Letting out a frustrated breath, he stood from his spot, shifting his raging hard on and strutting right past me with it. Stopping momentarily to give me a chaste kiss, he growled again. "The only reason I'm not bending you over my knee right now is because you're thinking of our other boyfriend and the lack of personal time we've had outside of work obligations. But you best believe he'll only help me riddle you senseless with orgasms later on."

Leaving me, I had to catch my breath, feeling the absence of his heat against me. It felt cruel to deny myself the pleasures of my lover's touch, but I knew another who needed it more desperately than me right now. Tony had been working too hard, and he needed a reminder about all the good in his life. I could've easily made the trip down to his office with Draven, but I knew their own bond needed refueled. Being in a poly relationship meant a different dynamic for most, but I wanted us to have personal ones within our larger one.

Picking up my sundress, I felt the heat between my legs, throbbing with every pulse. Ignoring it, I could go cool off near the pool with Kasey. She'd probably be five mimosas in by now if Tony's grandmother catered to her alcoholic tendencies today.

The endless hours I spent in the office were beginning to tire my soul, but I knew this work had to be done. A threat lurked too close, so it was up to us to figure it out. All the warnings played through my mind as I tried to figure out who could have breached our ranks. Right now, I sat on the phone with Mario because I hadn't been able to piece together the puzzle.

“And you're still not sure who it might be?” The man who had raised Costas didn't like the words coming out of my mouth. They felt too jumbled an unorganized, but we needed help to figure it out.

“We have nothing besides maybe Draven’s dad being involved. But it doesn't make sense because we got rid of all his men when we combined forces.” Scrubbing my face with my hands, Mario had been listening to me for a while, ranting on about the problems we were facing.

He had offered to help us take out Gustav when I told them we were going, but I knew he’d be needed with my father. Even though I didn't care if my father kicked the bucket, Mario had been faithful to him all these years, and I had his prodigy over me now. I respected his position of power within my family.

“I feel like I need to return to the compound and help you guys sort this out.”

Shaking my head, I knew he couldn't see it, but I needed the movement to reassure myself we could handle it. “No. You have plenty of important tasks to handle right now. We're more than capable of figuring this out, and we were extended an invitation to Draven’s father's secret party in two weeks, a gala in town. We plan to go there to get some answers, but it does feel like a trap even though we weren’t told until recently about it.”
