“No can do.” I shrug. “There’s nothing you can do to stop us.”

“You’re ruining my life,” she says, her gaze defiant despite the tears welling up in her eyes. “I’m getting heat from my boss over this. If I don’t get something done soon, I’m going to lose out on something I’ve spent half my life working towards.”

“What can I say? Your dreams aren’t on my list of priorities.”

Sienna's jaw tightens and her gaze drops to the ground. She takes a sharp breath, her fingers clenching and unclenching at her sides.

“I hate you,” she hisses through gritted teeth, lower lip quivering. “I hate you so much. Please, just leave me alone. I’ll do anything you want if you just leave me the hell alone and let me do this work!”

“Anything?” I ask, a half-smile forming on my lips as Sienna's offer hangs in the air.

Her blotchy face turns up to meet my gaze and I see the desperation in her eyes. Something about it tugs at me. A tantalizing itch of curiosity blooms under my skin, the desire to see just how far she’s willing to go catching fire inside.

“Anything,” she repeats. “I need this opportunity. I cannot lose this job.”

“Interesting.” I give her a sidelong glance. “Your car is done. Let’s go pick it up and if you promise to behave yourself for the rest of the day and stay out of the way, I’ll come up with something you can do in exchange, so you can do this workyou’re so desperate to get done.” I quirk my eyebrow. “Have we got a deal?”

She stares at me for a moment, worrying her lower lip with her teeth. With a heavy sigh, she nods, her eyes betraying the end of an internal struggle. “Fine, if that's what it takes. I just need some space to complete my project. I can't risk losing everything."

“Wait until you hear the offer,” I tell her, chuckling. “You might not want to agree. Meet me here, tomorrow morning, first thing.”

She nods and I walk over to my car, opening the passenger door for her. “Get in.” Sienna slinks over and slips inside, quietly watching me as I take her to Morgan’s Auto.

Once I've paid for the repairs, Sienna speeds away, unable to look me in the eye after putting her offer on the table.

Heading for the bike shop, the curiosity of what “anything” could mean still lingers in her wake. I mull it over as I walk inside, spotting Dominic under a bike as he finishes a repair.

“Hey,” Caleb waves. “Just got back from Joe’s. How was the princess?”

“She offered to do anything we wanted if we let her do her project,” I say, forgoing a greeting. “And she was desperate. She meant it.”

“Anything?” Caleb asks, raising an eyebrow. “Interesting.”

“Maybe we ought to use it to our advantage,” Dominic says, getting out from under the bike. “It could be a way to get back at the good doctor, and maybe we can use her to take out some frustrations as well.”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” Caleb agrees. “Let’s see just how desperate she really is.”

I grin. “Looks like we’ve figured out what she can do for us,” I say.

The next day, as agreed, Sienna shows up in front of the diner.

“We have a proposition for you,” I say, stepping towards her.

SIENNA

Iset my jaw, trying not to let the fear show as I tilt my chin up at the boys and square my shoulders. “What is it you want from me?” I ask.

Bastian’s smile grows, as does the unease in my belly.

“It’s pretty simple. We want you to completely surrender yourself to us. You become ours, our dirty little mistress, our slave. Bow to our every whim, let us use you however we want, and not only will we no longer keep you from completing your research, we’ll help you get it done.”

My gaze flits between each of the brothers. As Bastian lays out the proposal, a chilling smile etches across his face. The hunger in his eyes is unsettling, intense, and focused as though something lurks beneath the surface.

My jaw drops. “What?” I ask, voice cracking. “Is this real? Am I being pranked?”

“Dead serious,” Dominic says, his voice measured but holding an undercurrent of possessiveness. I catch a glimpse of a shared bond in their eyes, an interest in me that stretches beyond my mere presence in Caspian Springs.
